  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

lenses for red raven

Yes I can ;-) And, before you ask- correct the image circle while I'm at it;-)

also you guys think the tokina is better then the canon wide zoom?

cause i was thinking of the 16-35mm…to compliment the 70-200
but there the 11-16mm too but doesnt seem as practical.

Not E mount- but 4/3 is possible- not M4/3 to be clear...

oh sorry, i thought it said for e-mounted cameras, must of misread.

nick you moded standard primes? hmmmm...

i might get that 16-35mm canon L

unless you guys think the sigma or tokina are much better, but all my other zooms are canon, so i think i have a better chance of it matching.
the sigma looks temping too.

I did, two old Arri mount ones...one of best things I ever did....they are sort of "B-Speed" Standard Primes, they don't have the modern housings, but very similar optics (sharp as a tack wide open). We love them....

You can see the 24mm in action here:

And here's a Contax MM 50mm...they intercut VERY nicely...

very nice, as you know i have the contax, but lack the wide, was thinking of getting the 20mm f2.8 zeiss in m42 mount to go ef, but i like your idea better…so you mean the small standard zeiss prime that was on the arri 2c? with a standard mount? id live to see the picture of the lens!!!

Take a look at this page from Visual Products:

http://visualproducts.com/storeProductDetail03.asp?productID=1661&Cat=8&Cat2=18&Cat3=26

The back three lenses look a lot like our 16 T2 and 24 T2.

I originally had Visual Products "service them". And then I dropped them into one of my shipments to RP lens, and RP did the final conversion to EOS.

They aren't perfect - the 24 has the iris bult into the front thread, kind of a pain, but on interviews and simple setups...totally fine.

But considering we picked them up VERY AFFORDABLY (with almost MINT glass), it was well worth the time and investment.

Wicked sharp wide open.

We also have the Contax 21 2.8, but I just wanted to be T2 from 16 to 200 (we have the Nikkor 200 f2 as well...modded and converted to EOS).

best

oh cool, but yeah i want to see the eos conversion, i always though the back element was too long and would noway match up.

have you ever tried this lens out nick?

The EOS conversion worked fine. Took RP lens forever, but it worked out.

Have not tried that Jena.

I have a set of OLDER Jenas (the Zebras), but not that more modern 20 2.8. I hear good things though!

so had i, thats why i was checking… im also wondering if that slr magic range finder attachment might be a good way to turn canon or sigma into a parafocal zoom with hard stop nicely marked focus :)

still wondering if that 16-35mm L series mark 2 is a better decision if im planning to use my canon 70-200.
this whole comparing crop factors to a 5D is just ridiculous in the past comments, i mean common, this basically a s35 size sensor, the size we all see in almost every movie ever made and lenses start at 16-18mm, so whatever you think it is on a 5D, that has no relevance to motion picture.

I have used the Jena 20mm2.8 a bunch. Its a lovely little lens. Good focus thow range. not so good @2.8 (low con and low sharpness), but f4 on its great. The look does not exactly match anything, but its own charm. I mix it in zeiss contax.

oh hmmm, well i guess that puts me right back at the contax 18mm f4.

how much did that place charge you for the conversion nick?
if you ever have it around and have your iphone handy, snap a pic!

Can't remember how much the conversion cost, but maybe $350-400?

RP lens won't do it anymore, but I know Visual Products would!

Sure - next time we're on set, I'll try and snap a pic!!
