Windows/Linux version??
sorry but I'm a newbie on LUT manipulation: what's the workflow like? Is this something to view Live on Camera as a Preset Look (I have an Epic) or to be applied later on in the post?
How does this compare to Lightspace LUTS software?
Mike Nagel said:LS is an all-in-one display profiling/calibration/LUT-conversion-manipulation solution that does way more things than Lattice (obviously at a much higher price point)... so for example, u cannot (color accurately) calibrate a LUT box or a screen via Lattice from display profile data.
Lattice is a very affordable LUT manipulation tool.
Greg Cotton said:REDs don't have LUT support but you could get something called a LUT box (from BMD or Aja) that will apply a LUT to a HD-SDI signal. Generally a "look" LUT would be applied to a LUT box for preview purposes and then used in post or even burned into dailies.
Steve Sherrick said:AJA LUT box won't do Live Grading, just to point out in case anyone is thinking of using it in that way. It just stores LUTs that can then be applied to the output.
We use the LUT boxes for live grading a lot usually with something like Pomfort Live Grade, nextLAB Live or LinkColor. The AJA also converts video range into PC range internally. For those that might care about the video range. This results in a loss of head and toe room. Something we have asked them to fix. The Fuji does not do this.
The Fuji also offers an input and output 1D LUT. The AJA now offers a 1D LUT. I think its on the output. Normally if you use both a 1D and 3D, for correction, you want the 1D LUT on the output. ie between the LUT and the display. Then the 3D LUT would be applied on top of the 1D LUT. The 1D is mainly to correct grayscale (white balance) and gamma. The less the 3D has to correct, the better.
How popular is a 3D creative LUT in HW? I think of them mostly from the correction point of view.
LS and CalMAN focus on display calibration, including creating a 3D correction LUT. Lattice is a wonderful tool to view LUTs and convert between various LUTs.
LS has always been the premier 3D LUT creation and manipulation tool, that is their bread and butter. LS has many, many LUT manipulation and conversion tools. Obviously, to get all of these features u need to have the correct LS version.
Lattice is a nice addition to visualize some of these adjustments.
Mike,
Respectfully, I think you are underselling Lattice's capabilities. It is not simply a tool to "visualize adjustments" made in Lightspace. Lattice is a full featured Mac app designed for LUT transformation, visualization, image/video previewing, and conversion. A full list of features can be found on our website. We have made no effort to create a calibration tool as Lightspace and CalMan both do tremendous jobs at that.

absolutely, my point was that CM is in no way shape or form on any level with LS in regards to 3D LUT...
I think LS and Lattice are a great combo... ;-)

As a dealer for LS I can understand you saying that since you have a vested interest in LS just as I have a vested interest in CM.
