  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hey guys, I'm a cinematographer by day and a software developer by night. A friend and I recently made a Mac App called Lattice. It's a tool for viewing, manipulating, and converting LUTs. Anyway, let me know if this is even vaguely interesting to you and/or if you want to see any more features added!

UPDATE: Added some screencasts!

Awesome. Love the price, do you have a demo without the export options so that we can test what it can do.

The demo is an interesting idea - we will definitely think about doing that.

In the meantime, what would you like to see? I plan on posting a few things that you can do in the app in this forum.

One of the things you can do to (almost) any 3D LUT is isolate just the contrast or just the color. You could then put the isolated color LUT and the isolated contrast LUT on two different nodes in Resolve and get the same effect as using the original LUT. This would allow you to change the strength of the color shift and/or change the grade after the color shift but before the contrast.

Here is the original Cineon to Kodak 2383 emulation Rec709 LUT that ships with Resolve:

Isolate Contrast:

Isolate Color:

Isolate Color combined with Isolate Contrast (same as the original):

woud love to try it out before making purchase. Perhaps 7 days trial or demo version would be nice

looks interesting. Certainly a 7 day trial or demo will be needed before purchase

v1.1.3 Submittted to App Store - should be up in a few days with these updates:

DPX Image support for the default image.

Colorspace Conversion now allows a custom white point.

Isolate Color, Mix Curves (3D LUT), and LUT 1D Reverse now have a "proceed anyway" if the LUT curves are not completely reversible.

LUT loading is a little snappier.

Fixed an issue where you couldn't write Image-Based LUTs.

All S-Log transfer functions (1, 2, 3) support

BMDFilm / BMDFilm4K transfer function support

Can I use this to convert an ICC profiel to a LUT and vice-versa?

Currently you can read an ICC profile in as a 3D LUT. Doing the opposite is a little tricky - if there is enough interest we could look into it.

We will look into making a trial/demo mode for download. Trying to figure out the best approach for it.

This looks awesome. Set up a mailinglist ASAP so I can subscribe to news about this! :-)

It does look very nice! I'll get it :)
A question: I've been trying to find a neat way to get a LUT out of the VSCO (http://vsco.co) presets for Lightroom/Adobe Camera Raw but haven't found a nice workflow. Perhaps you are smarter than me, would there be anyway to create a LUT in the app from a Lightroom preset?

Once the new version gets approved in the App Store you should definitely be able to do that. There are two image-based LUT formats that will be available, CMS Test Pattern (the same one Nuke makes) and an Unwrapped Cube LUT Image (used in a lot of video game SDKs for mapping a LUT). What you can do is create a new (blank/identity) 3D LUT of size 33 or something and save out a CMS Test Pattern 16-bit TIFF.

It will look like this:
cms_example.jpg

You can then run it through any image processing that does uniform effects (no vignettes/power windows) and read it back in Lattice as a LUT! Just make sure you output a 16-bit TIFF.

Wow, fantastic. Really need to get this now!
