Between my Komodo Cfast photo last week and Jim's reference in the Hydrogen thread there has been a ton of speculation of what Komodo is, and it sure is fun to watch imaginations run wild.

I told everyone that I wouldn't reveal Komodo until it was ready.. There still is a bunch of time before the first batch starts shipping towards the end of the year and everything can and probably will change.

But in the spirit of discovery... perhaps I can still stay inside those rules and tell you what Komodo is not :)

- It is not DSMC3
- It is not a replacement for DSMC2
- It is not 8k VV
- It is not a Dragon or a Helium or a Gemini or a Monstro Sensor
- It does not have an HDMI port
- It does not use proprietary media
- It is not a “module”
- It is not under $5k, unless you own a Hydrogen.
- It has no XLR ports
- It does not have a fixed lens
- It’s body does not weight more than 2 pounds.
- It is not larger than 4 inches in any dimension.

O.. and since Komodo is alive and breathing and you will probably see it pop up over the next few weeks and months in the hands of some very talented people banging on it to try and break it... I guess I can at least leave you with this......

Jarred can the KOMODO work independently from the hydrogen? As in it has its own display?

Amazing news Jarred!
Thank you for sharing!

Can't wait to get my hands on one!!!
Or two
So here's to you and the entire
RED Digital Cinema Camera Team!!!
:cheers2:

PS: Since I'm just back in Italy to do some Fashion work in the Dolomites of Northern Italy, if a Komodo was to drift off to this side of the pond... ;)
Or maybe another one per chance?

In the spirit of teasing, I'd love to test drive one!

If not, then at least you've got me hooked for preorders.
Looking to adopt a pair of new pets to accompany me in my shooting expeditions!

I have to ask, timecode or just audio in?
Since it could potentially hook up to a Hydrogen in some manner, I have a few ideas to genlock...

Have a great weekend Jarred and Team RED!!!

Bring it on

Bring it on

Can only be the add on to the Hydrogen. But I thought the Hydrogen was discontinued so will this work with our hyrogens or independently?

Hello. I'm coming from the H4Vuser forum to ask a question. I'd like to know how large the sensor is going to be. I'd like to see a point in Jarred's list looking like this:

- It doesn't have a sensor smaller than the Helium sensor

Can please Jarred confirm that this is true?

I want to know whether or not to stay on this boat. I am quite dissatisfied with the way things developed with the Hydrogen and RED/Hydrogen falling to live up to their promises. If the sensor is not at least as big as the Helium I'm afraid I'm out and want my money back.

I think you are referring to the "Monstro" Helium sensor? The regular Helium is S35.

Jarred confirmed that it is NOT 8k VV. so it will be smaller than that
