  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

KOMODO....

So now it begs the question: will we be seeing variable ND being built into more RED lens mounts?

Sweeet. I was hoping for Komodo to be 6k resolution. I hope she's Full-Frame!

Yes that is the EF ND Adapter. Works fantastic on my EOS R’s. The Canon RF lenses are simply amazing.

So what we DON’T know ...1. Monitoring (no HDMI is soooo strange, 4K thunderbokt 3?) 2. Power 3. Sensor size

This begs the question. Will RED make a Canon RF mount for DSMC2? Would be great to be able to have an RF mount, get this ND adapter, and have built in NDs!

BMD announces the 6k Pocket CC.
S35 sensor with EF MOUNT. 6k @ 60fps, 2k @ 120fps. BRAW and ProRes. $2,500.

Red teases Komodo.
6k with yet to be announced sensor size, or really what sensor at all for that matter. R Mount, which seems weird until you see the EF-R adapter with built in ND which it seems to be made for. So basically EF. Starting at $5k, probably higher for no-hydrogen folks.

Hm... would need to be able to do some impressive frame rates and be a low light capable camera to be interesting to me. However, it is no larger than 4” in any direction. That’s small. So very interested to see what we have here.

I LOVE my Helium 8k S35. But I am really tired of flying it on Movi Pro. I NEED a great Red option for gimbal work which is dominating my time. Maybe this is it. Maybe the new BMDPCC6k is it.

I’m rooting for a Red solution, and fast.

Totally out of subject but I’m wondering if there will be any Stormtrooper or TI (to match the H1 TI) limited edition version of Komodo...
I’m in for a TI version, just sayin’

False alarm and you're pretty much on the right path. For the Prototype 645>8K VV Speedbooster I made a bunch of dummy formats to see the potential.

Everything about the Komodo looks great, I hope it is in no way dependent on the Hydrogen though I must say.

Can't agree more, need a lightweight camera for movipro that records into .r3d

Red really needs to consider making their own version of a ND mount as well (Or better yet build into camera). Love the kippertie revolva, but would be stoked to see what red can do with on camera nd's. Necessary for gimbal work imo...

Does the Komodo has it's own power source? If so, what type of a battery and the duration per charge? Does Komodo provide power to the Hydrogen if it looses power? And are there different R3D compressions and codecs available on this Komodo?
