Going through a few different rig set-ups here at Gear Focus. Amazing that before any cages were released we were able to fit in the Tilta GH5 cage! Love the simple 8Sinn cage as well and the NiceRig handle for attached the GH5 wooden handle.

Hello RED fam.. Anybody knows if the Tilta handle Right Side Wooden Handle 2.0 with R/S Button is compatible with RED Komodo?

https://tilta.com/shop/right-side-handle-2-0-rs-button/

I like it and it seems it would fit perfectly the height Komodo... Any thoughts???

Thanks...

PS: Desperately waiting for my KOMODO to arrive... LOL

Does someone understand what is happening to Tilta?
-None of their accessories available yet?
-None of them approved by RED?
-They seem to be available on Aliexpress?
Strange...

RE: Aliexpress, the delivery estimates are way out like end of December even though they show “In Stock”. Once you go to checkout, they show the delivery estimates in the cart. That just makes the whole thing untrustworthy but I have only used Aliexpress once so I’m not sure if those dates are very conservative or what. I ordered my cage and a few other Tilta accessories from BH and I’m just going to stick to them. I also signed up on Tilta’s website for notification when the Komodo stuff is available. I have not gotten that email yet.

Hi,

I think that by making contact on these two pogo terminals we activate the REC ... After observing the images of the brain and of the official red handle ...
Without certainty!

would be cool to know what the other 38 are for ...

Update regarding KOMODO LINK:

Thank you for contacting RED Digital Cinema -
The KOMODO LINK does provide a trickle charge to the smartphone via the standard connection.
That way you do get extended use out of your smartphone device while using it as a monitor.

It's good news that the camera can charge the phone.
We notice on this image that above of the USB type-C connection there is like a threaded hole, maybe to hold a particular USB C cable with screw locking?

any suggestion on good thin BNC cables?

The thin BNC's that smallHD has are nice. I wish they had the fat Canare (or Canare-type) barrels, but otherwise they have been good cables for me for on-cam use with their Focus 5's.

I think they sell them in 12", 24" and 48" lengths.

I think of any short SDI cables almost like expendables-- I always have a backup, because they don't last forever. The SmallHDs are pretty good, though-- they're my standard--, and the Canare slim models are good, too.

I'm looking to attach a neckstrap to Komodo but am not finding the right screw to screw into the sides. What are people using to run a sling/strap to komodo?

If you look on Phil Holland's "first komodo in the wild" thread, he mentions using eyebolts with a 1/4" or 3/8" thread. He was screwing them into the GDU Timmy Ribs, though--it'll depend on what mounting points you have on your rigging.
If you're trying to mount directly to the camera body (with no third-party rigging), I believe the attachment points are M4 thread.

Does anyone know if any brands are working on a direct-mount monitor or evf that uses the pogo pins to communicate with the Komodo? I understand it would have to be powered on its own battery or via dtap. I've searched everywhere and I haven't found anything, but I'd pay good money not to need any cables—cables suck when you're in and out of a backpack all day. Monitoring using a phone is a weak temporary solution, and without focus peaking, it's almost completely useless for a solo-op. I'm picturing a DSMC2 monitor that takes a Sony NPF battery, or something similar...

I wonder if the USB-C can also input sound?
If It can output a video signal to a phone...
