  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

KOMODO ACCESSORIES (Grips, Cages, Handles...)

Does anyone found shoulder mount solutions for the Komodo they're happy with? I'm looking for something suitable for the Komodo with a lightweight prime (like a super speed or ultra prime) and either a remote follow focus motor or manual Arri, and I've got the classic problem of it being too front heavy. I've seen a few rigs on this thread, but image they mostly have the same issue.

Wooden Camera shoulder rig with weights/battery slide on the back? Long 15mm rods and a shoulder pad (like Smallrig Universal)? I may just opt for an ez-rig for an upcoming job, but don't like using for shooting where you have to travel the camera (like walking instead of just panning).

We've got a device callled ROVER that connects via wifi locally, or across the globe.

We are considering adding user-configurable buttons. Currious how many user-config buttons would be desirable?

I really don't get why a handle with basic controls, still doesn't exist.
Komodo protocol much more complicated than DSMC2 cameras?
 
The expander module has a 4 pin CTRL connector. Do DSMC2 trigger cables work with that input?

I'm interested in particular in the Tilta wooden hand grip and Nucleus M run/stop cables. Insights are much appreciated.
 
hey all. has anyone purchased either the Tilta support kit and cage or the Wooden Camera one? i'm curious about opinions on either of these from ppl with firsthand experience—either with the companies' products or with the actual products themselves. (i've no experience with either.) any thoughts on build quality and versatility with the kits are welcomed too.

personally, i like the price of the Tilta, but i like WC's battery mount solution more since it frees up a battery slot for the B-Box. thanks!

I have that Tilta cage in white and I am happy with it. Just a couple days ago I finally got a Metabones PL to RF mount and was please to see there were no issues with mounting it to the provided lens support bracket that came with the Tilta cage. Now I can use my PDMOVIE follow focus with no noticeable lens flexing. Before with the standard EF mount I was horrified to see how much the lens was bending with quick motor moves. People using light weight Canon lenses won't notice anything I'm sure, but a 4 pound Pictor zoom lens was very noticeable. Like all cages it also has many attachment points and I have added a few things to it from Small Rig. I can recommend the Tilta cage.

Still wondering if run/stop cables for DSMC2 work on the 4-pin CTRL port of the Expander module. Any insights or first hand experiences?

This looks great. For my purposes, if Rover already has dedicated run/stop, iris and focus controls, then 3 customisable buttons would suffice (pre-record, 1:1 focus, AF toggle) but I'm sure many here will want more than that.

This would be good if user buttons are added. That’s one thing that seems to be sorely missing with Komodo rigs.

Anyone have a solution for attaching a Hasselblad 500 c/m prism to the top of the komodo, either prebuilt or custom fabricated? I've seen a couple posts on here about people using one, but no discussion about mounting options or top plates used.
