  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Just sharing a job I had fun with last month.

I never can seem to get that crisp of any image with my canon glass...hmmm, very nice stuff.

I havent done anything fancy with it, Its just a REDLOGFILM, PRO RES transcode. No sharpening done.

hi Mark...

Fantasctic shot ;) you are best REDVOLT MAN ;)))))

I do love my REDVOLTS. ... Just finished a YAMAHA shoot on Monday. in total only used 15 RED VOLTS. The secret is, when the camera is not in use. Turn it off.

So glad to hear this. I've got only 2 150wHr V-Mounts and 2 RedVolts. It's completely useable, but only because I know my gear and how to gauge the use. Just had a shoot as B Cam where my Scarlet had to go on a very lightweight Jib. "Hey, can you strip yours down to under 8 lbs?" Sure. But there'll be limited battery time. "Ok. Do it."

Off comes the top handle, magic arm, and V-Mount plate and battery. Just a Side Handle, Red Volt, 5.6" LCD, and a Contax Zeiss 35/2.8. On the one hand, it felt a little under-prepared to keep saying to the DP, Hey, 20 minutes left. Hey, 15 minutes left.

On the other hand, given that the Director did not seem to be moving things along that day, it felt pretty OK to have a tangible reason to push and get the shots knocked out.

Really Mark, the more you talk about how you work, the more it sounds like you do all the things that make intuitive sense to me, yet everyone says that the pros "just don't work that way."

When I was growing up through the ranks, there was a fantastic Director / DP I used to admire... All I wanted to do was to beat him ! He rang me last year out of the blue... Just to say, Congrats. He made my decade :)
I tell a lot of young aspiring Director DP's Im mentoring, to look at my work and to try beat me on all levels. And I really hope they do. :)

And thanks Patrick. :)

Hehehe. Ok, I'll wait for your call then ;) or Ill do it the other way round, and give you a call when I beat you ;)
Damn, now how do I do this? :)

I just read that you used a vary ND. Which one? :) and exactly how happy are you with it compared to fixed ND?

Mark that was amazing, you really need to shoot a movie. Forget the distributors, your work is incredible. If you go the kickstarter route you have my support.
