  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

January 2016 update

That is interesting to see that you guys aren't getting notifications yet, especially since you placed deposits so early. Maybe your reps have been tied up. But I would like to add that they prioritized brand new purchases first over upgrades. I got my notification yesterday and my rep informed me that I was one of the first to place the order which was December 21st. At that time, they didn't even make an announcement yet for brand new pre-orders, but I randomly caught it on the site and did it immediately. I'm just happy that for once a company is on time and actually AHEAD of schedule (Black Magic Design take note). What's funny is the day before a rep told me it would be a couple more weeks, but I caught Jared's post at 1:00 AM which I am glad to see was accurate. Good to know that this forum has reliable information. Hopefully you guys get your cameras soon!

Any idea when one or the other DSMC2 Red Touch LCD will start shipping?

Also is the DSMC2 Outrigger Handle still supposed to ship in February? That's something really badass and I really need it!

My CF Weapon is amazing but it feels a bit naked without those accessories ;)

I got the email Friday afternoon. I was a pretty early time stamp but also had an Epic M, so I think they are doing those first. I am actually still waiting to receive my W-CF from an Epic X that was at the end of the que, so I'll have two cameras in upgrade mode at the same time, one of the very last CFs and one of the first of the MGs, crazy times.

You got your Epic-M to Weapon-Mg upgrade allocation before your Epic-X to Weapon-CF upgrade allocation.
 
No, my Epic X to Weapon CF was allocated about 12 days ago, I just haven't received the camera yet (it seems to be taking a bit longer than I hoped) My Epic M to Weapon MG happened Friday.

What's the feel of the texture on that sucker? It looks like the texture will have a pronounced gritty/sandy feel to it, or is it just how the sun is hitting it?
 
I tested on my last music video RED Dragon Scarlet. The grain in low light is definitely gritty sandy in a great way. day light you may play with the ISO and ND to also get a gritty grain and i found it pretty and much better than MX. I also realized during testing than using NEAT VIDEO on this gritty sandy grain cleans up more natural / less plastic than with MX.

My 2 cents results on my first experience. Wondering how much better Waepon will be. :)

Looked like the same finish as Epic-X to me. Curts pics just may be over sharpened giving a stippley effect.
 
LOL. I realized that after I sent the post. But you know, we are all exited about getting ours soon, so there you go! LOL

How long is the upgrade taking? From sending in the Epic to getting the Weapon?

7-10 days is standard.
 
Who else thinks there's a real chance some Scarlet-W people might hear something (invoices) by this Friday?!? So excited about this!
