Hello all,

We've introduced two new Bolt systems today: the Bolt 1000 and 3000. The website sums up what the new capabilities are (and how the specs compare to our current systems), but the short story is:

Longer Range
Now up to 3000ft (1000ft for the Bolt 1000)

20MHz Channels
Available only on the 3000, 20MHz channels allow you to operate more than twice as many Bolts at one location (provided RF conditions permit). It also allows you to avoid heavy interference since these channels use less bandwidth. The drawback is that the PSF, interlaced, and 1080p60/50 are not currently supported in this mode - we are working on a software fix for it.

2 New DFS Channels
Even more spectrum to transmit over in the USA and Europe

20% Smaller Chassis
The TX is lighter and a good deal smaller than the current systems. The RX is the same size and a little lighter.

Bolt Identity
The TX and RX now have colored caps that can be swapped in and out, allowing you to more easily identity which units are paired together while on set.

Rapid Reconnection
Reconnect times have been greatly improved - nearly instantaneous once you come back into range. This goes hand in hand with all of the work we've done to the firmware to make the system rock solid.

Built-in HDMI to SDI converter
You can connect both your on-camera monitor and your video source via the Bolt TX (HDMI in, SDI Loop Out to monitor). This was not possible on previous versions of Bolt.

New Firmware
We've spent a lot of time refining how our software works to ensure these units hit their full range right out of the box. The wireless link has been greatly improved so it should be much more resilient in tougher conditions.

Metadata
All of the features found on our current systems is also be available on these new models.

New Bolt models come in SDI only and Dual (HDMI + 3G-SDI) varieties. Pricing starts at $9490 for Bolt 3000 SDI and $5490 for Bolt 1000 SDI.

Shipping now.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Cheers,

Andrew

Mybe this thing works like a charm my only reason for not buting is that I bought the first bolt. That stuff really never worked. Or it works kind of like a bad redmote. Drops signal even on arms distance. The word was there would be better firware comming...well that did not really happen.

I thibk the one I bought only cost 4k usd or such. But still quite a bit of money for somthing that qorks like 1 time out of 3.

Sounds like a terrible experience and a properly working unit shouldn't behave in this way.
Do you still have those units? Happy to explore getting them back up to speed as they are still very much supported.

If you still have them, shoot an email to andy@teradek.com.

I saw earlier this year that the 3000 ft chipsets from Amimon were coming out, so had wondered if a Bolt 3000 would be dropping. Now to decide if I sell my Bolt 600 with 2 receivers and get a single receiver 3000 setup instead...

On it

Thank you very much

Fury

is there an intent to introduce a second generation of the Sidekick that would be compatible with both the original Bolt 300/600/2000 and the new Bolt 1000 and 3000?

Any other compatibility nuggets you can share?

No information available at this time, but know that the request is noted and already exploring options.

I have a Bolt 300 that I've been very happy with but I do wish it had a little more range sometimes. The 1000 would probably be the sweet spot for me. I like the thought of a smaller TX too. Count me in if any sort of group buy is able to be set up.

I've found the Bolt Pro 300 units to be bullet proof even in some very demanding situations. Not crazy range-wise, of course, but I've never had problems with dropouts while within the range specs. They're also very well built, easy to rig, and the HDMI/SDI flexibility and cross converting with no programming or menu surfing... very impressive. We'll run multi-cam live productions and it's indistinguishable which cameras are running over SDI and which are on Bolts.

The price point of these new units is kinda shocking tho. I rent Bolts, looks like I'll have to stick with Amimon for my personal kit. Amimon drawbacks being no audio, fan noise, and awkward mounting of the Tx and its antennae, but for a fraction of the cost, and comparable reliability.

Presumably, OMOD will eventually ship a compatible unit with these new Teradeks, which will make for a pretty slick, cable-free rig, but the combined cost is kinda crazy.

I know the later versions of bolt works better but again Think is strange that products of such lousy quality can be sold and nothing really happens exept that there is a new line released a year after. I also bought a couple of the early versions of tereadeck cube... those where even worse. Same thing, now a few iterations later the cubes actually kind of work.

Gen 2 sidekick would be nice if it had more mounting options and was a little smaller than the gen 1 sidekick. Looking forward to scooping up a Bolt 3000. Was Nick Fury hinting at putting together a group buy?

I don't think so but when it does I'm all about joining it.

Anybody out there own the new Teradek 1000 yet? How do you like it? I'm considering purchasing one, especially if a group buy or discount were set up.
