  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Internal ND for Raven by KipperTie

Any idea when these pre-orders will ship? Would love to have it for a shoot in mid September.
 
Hey Edward. Mid September is too ambitious. I anticipate 8 weeks from the point where we close preorder, as per the info on the product page. We may beat that with luck.

On that note, there are literally just a couple of spaces left on the preorder. Who's going to be last to get on the train?

No dramas. Been filming long lens with the raven for the last month or so and since preordering I find myself constantly wishing I had it already. Looks like it will be essential gear in no time.
 
John, I love this concept and technology. I would love to see you implement this behind the lens technology with artistic filters as well. For instance, ultra contrast or low contrast filters that I assume you could slide the glass into the same housing you have for these ND ones. I would be a happy customer for this. Do you forsee creating something like this any time soon?
 
hi john, any estimate on shipping for the first batches? i could use them on a traveling doc style shoot very soon!

I don't know HOW I missed this thread 2 weeks ago but I just put in my order (assuming I'll also have a Red Raven in a month or two). If not, I'll re-sell it on here :)
 
Hey guys. We're well underway with glass. Packaging and associated components are in process. We start cutting metal shortly... looks like 7 weeks from now. Maybe sooner if we get lucky.

We will potentially do Raven specific diffusion filters, however the concept needs some revision, and the cost to manufacture those is higher due to the rather special process we developed.

Hi John - just a side question....from the video it wasn't clear but does the tool when latched to the filter touch the glass at all?
 
No, the tool only contacts the frame, so it's possible to pickup, fit, remove and store the filter without touching the glass.

It latches in place firmly, so it's impossible to drop the filter off the tool without a deliberate squeeze.

Hi Jake, I'd expect to ship from stock once assembled - regular free shipping takes about 5 working days to the US - assuming all is well we should assemble your order by the end of this week.

I've got a pre- order on the Raven ND set, just checking in to see how production was going and when you expect to start shipping. Really looking forward to using them, been shooting a heap of gimbal work on the Ronin, these will be amazing

Hey guys. I have a host of parts inbound and cooking right now, so we're nominally on target. My original estimate was eight weeks from hitting 'go', and we're about 6 weeks into that. One out of the six glass types has had a small production delay, so I may be a touch behind, but I'll be doing my best to hit target.

I'll post some parts and process pics this week.
 
John, I will be super curious to see how the new Helium color, Graeme's new color science, and the general color overhaul that Jared has mentioned... how all that will be affected by the skin-tone OLPF that is built in to your DSMC2 ND OLPFs. Or do you already know?

I have no special knowledge on that right now - all I can say is that based on what I can test at the hardware end, our STH based calibration continues to be the best for critical colour separation. WidegamutRGB is already out there and has been instrumental in establishing that for me.
