  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

One week into pre-order and we’re nearly half filled on the allocation. Due to the great response so far we have already started manufacturing, as we anticipate filling the pre-order without any trouble.

Hey guys. Here's a little peek behind the curtain on a new product.

Since Raven appeared we've been searching for the best way to implement internal filtration. ND being the main concern.
We have developed a simple and foolproof system we're very proud of. Reducing an idea to its most elegant form is a fun challenge in its own right :)

Shipping in October we'll have a set of best-of-class ND built specifically for Raven. Zero colour shifts, zero IR problems.
And being internal filters, you can use any lens at all, you need no mattebox, and you are far less likely to suffer internal reflections.
Best of all we're targeting a $600 price for a hard-cased set covering ND 0.6, 0.9, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.1

Because we're targeting such an aggressive price, we'll be collecting pre-orders and building large batches. Opportunity to get into batch 1 will open up on kippertie.com soon.

Check out this little video of a prototype to see how the filters fit and can be swapped... and if you've switched internal NDs on an Alexa recently, you'll appreciate how easy this is by comparison ;)

Now you just need to do the same for weapon. From looking at the front of the olpf's it should work no? and then we could adjust backfocus accordingly. Would love to have a set of behind lens NDs for when using EF glas etc.
 
We developed the glass for Weapon. There we'll combine it with the OLPF unit complete. No point reinventing the wheel. Similar timescale for those too, but available off our store in the normal way when ready :)

So you mean the ND for weapon will be built into the OLPF? To me having clients changing olpf's is a bit more sketchy then changing something infront of the olpf as it's so close to sensor I think its more dust sensitive, no?
 
Love this! We use the done for a lot of drone work and this would be great with the GDU lens
 
I can see that when you are dealing with only the canon lens mount a simple system like this is a very tidy solution. Nice work John. And thank you got your package the other day.

I need to get a good level of early interest to make this happen at the friendly price I'm aiming at.

A pre-order page will go up at kippertie.com - we'll refund if we can't hit required quantities. One good reason this product doesn't already exist (especially at this price) is that its not terribly commercially viable.... So you all need to help me help you ;)

Yeah I'd be keen too, Sick of screwing on those ND's to all my EF lenses - would make life easier
