  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Interchangable OLPFs

I am running 5.3.9 Beta and have the Low OlPF installed, which is selected in the camera's menu. OTOH, the release was shipped with the camera and it booted up fine, with the menu in camera showing Low Light OLPF selected. I couldn't wait to go beta, to get the Switchblade to function as I wanted it to...and was not disappointed. Spot on!! Interestingly, the meta data in RC states:

Sensor OLPf Interchangeable Yes

Sensor OLPF Name Low Light Optimized

Good to hear. I was afraid we would have to wait for a release build.

Sorry this was false alarm.. I was all happy getting a package from red this morning... but no, it was not olpfs in it. I got a 2 pin lemo with a fly lead that I do not know what to do with, I think it's for RED One and something I do not remembering ordering :(

that might be for the +1 rather... has been in back order for a long time...
 
We installed three interchangable OLPF kits on Dragons today at OFFHOLLYWOOD. Installation was very easy - still not something I would recommend doing at your kitchen table or in the field. Excited to test and compare tomorrow.
 
Mark that's good to hear some of the user kits are being sent out. Last I heard the kits would be available in a couple of weeks, but who knows what that actually means :)
 
Kits are going out. We are machining custom tools for the kit, so not huge batches going out.
 
Just FYI - if you are East Coast - we can install for you at OFFHOLLYWOOD if you would rather not send your camera back to RED - but you will need to order / buy the OLPFs from your rep - we have the TOOL here that comes in the kit - so if you want us to do it - don't order the kit - just get the OLPFs.

That's good to know, Mark.

We have two Dragons, one came with the Interchangeable OLPF system already installed, one still needs it. Ordered the extra kit, looking forward to receiving it.
Is it that complicated to install? I still haven't seen a video covering the installation procedure.

Sweet thanks so much! I wanna get mine back to the rental facility asap so I think I'll take ya up on this! They just sent me the email too! Stoked!
 
Just overnighted my dragon for this upgrade. It would be awesome to start seeing the extra olpfs such as the low light version start shipping. Especially if they can get those and the sidewinder Multitool shipping at the same time.

yes, but at the moment you choose which interchangeable olpf you want installed. Second olpf's were supposed to begin shipping end of month and not currently shipping with your order, just the one chosen olpf...
 
Remember, the upgrade to swappable OLPF and placing orders for additional OLPFs are two completely separate things with two completely separate queues. The upgrade is done on our upgrade line. The additional OLPFs are a sales order. Both are being fulfilled in order of date/time stamp for order/request made. So, not realistic to expect the upgrade and the sales orders to ship together, never have.

And, as you can imagine, we are given priority in supply to the upgrades.
