  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Incredible...

Looking at it now, its not a Space that doesn't go from big to small. If its not a Scarlet Spacer or and Epic Spacer it is some sort of Epic Adapter. But what for?

My ideas:
Actually, I think this Epic adapter has more to do with connection methods than with sizes. If you look at the module "explosion" picture Jim posted, you notice that the Epic adapter (as well as the REDmote) do not have to the two connection pins that the rest of the modules have. My hunch is that the Epic plate is used only when the camera is going to be built out backwards, and will this contain the necessary structure to accept the normal modules. On the other hand, when wanting to go SLR form factor, you can lose the plate, which saves on weight and bulk, and go back to only the simple module "V" hook which will accept the REDmote. Again, all speculation, but the best guess I've got right now.
Peace,

-Harry

So if the modules have epic size, why is there the epic adaptor behind the epic brain?
Just curious! :)

For structure.. once you put a few modules on the back you can imagine there is opportunity to be alot of leverage on that connection point on the back of the brain. That adaptor module includes the necessary mechanical interface and latch mechanism to make it solid as a tank.

And of course you only need that Adapter if your using modules... you can take it off if you are not.

Now that makes sense!

I literally cannot wait!

Is the module adapter included with the brain or a separate purchase?

Separate (optional) as you only need it if you go decide to build t backwards with modules.. you can configure the camera with side record modules and the side handle (with battery ) and have everything you need to shoot.

Its all about options...

Thanks Jarred! Question? Will the Scarlet Spacer be able to do what the Epic Adapter does also, or will the Scarlets(2/3 and S35) need another Adapter for the modules?

Its so modular that you could make a film brain and hook the other modules up to it. Grip, power, IO.

Loving the renders Jim.

But can i ask, are all the different modules you have shown and told us about going to be available when the EPIC brain is available and at the same time of purchase?
I ask because it was a major headache/problem with the RED ONE rollout and backorders of accessories to make it work...and still is by the way with backorders on drives.

Wow... that small setup with the 85mm and MB is so drooly. :in love:

Can't wait to hear the schedule! :crossing fingers and toes:

Is there any chance we might see a sample in October? Or will those have to wait to the last minute? I am wondering how Mysterium-X RC42 or other might look when pushed to 1600ISO. This many be very premature but: :emote_happyhappy:
