  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Incredible...

I'll just add that in certain situations, it would be great to have an adaptor that would allow the different modules to be connected by a cable. So you could have the brain/lens on in one location, then use a cable adaptor module to run do the other modules.

It might be possible to do like the dalsa.
You can connect 12 cameras together, like it was done in the last bong film.
I think there were also 3 535.

well ... it would be off the hook to able to have 1:1 (pixel for pixel) zoom in active while shooting ... ACs would love that - that might be hoping for a bit much but you never know ... but I'd actually be surprised if you couldn't have false color, etc active on the LCD and not in the EVF.

That's pretty much what I was thinking several pages back. Monitor two separate outputs, maybe one RAW, and another with whatever REC your in, etc.

Seems feasible. I like your idea of 1:1 as well.

Those modules look nice. I could go for each module and brain shipping in its own little modular Pelican Case which could snap together to build into a custom sized Pelican Case. Okay, maybe that one needs to marinate first, but it could be cool.

Oh, and if there's any chance for the brains to come in scarlet (the color) I'd be out of excuses; then when it gets used as a crash cam with a 3rd 3rd AC running it, he could bleed all over it and it wouldn't look any less pretty.

modules in diferent colors would help, adujsted in B&W for color blind, that would help.

Companies that make rain covers are already going to be hysterical about the variety of configurations. Maybe Red needs to just issue the cameras with a pack of Red rain-condoms in sizes ranging from "snug" to "Magnum." :001_cool:

curious to know what will happen to all the companies that are making accessories right now for the R1. Cant imagine Element Technica is too pleased. But who knows? Perhaps all the ET stuff will work with EPIC.

This is all great! Loving everything. Concerned that with all the different modules won't be tough enough for a documentary bush camera. Glad you added that adapter, which I am sure scarlet will have to make it tough.

But my real question is, if we are coming close, and chance you can feed us photos instead of renders? Even if they are not working. I agree that your CG guys is great, but we'd love to start seeing the real thing.

Trust us, that is not going to be an issue.

RED stuff may be better, but for the price you can't beat the image quality of the 5D mark 2. Due mainly to a sensor the size of a full frame of 35mm film. Now is rolling shutter still an issue? YES Are you only limited to one framerate as of now? YES. Are DSLR's awkward to shoot with? YES But for $2,600, the image quality and potential for a very shallow DOF blow 1/3 video cameras out of the water.

Just my two cents....

Except the image quality isn't as good as the 1/3" cams on anything but static shots. There are a lot more problems with the video than rolling shutter. They do work well for those that like fuzzy out of focus video.

Nice to be reassured! I'll sleep better tonight.

But if a camera needs battle testing, anti-poaching, volcanos, mountain climbing, and insane trips in African swamps are great places to it! I'm game!

I'll still be restless at night because I doubt a scarlet with I/O won't be out before my next shoot end of November! Ahhh, another project not shot on red! I hate time frames (on my part only, your guys do what you need to do)

Looks superb.

I wonder if it will still be possible to use our old EVF, LCD, batteries, carbon fiber rods, handles etc... ?

Yes.

Fixed Scarlet.

Can we get a mysterious render? Silhouette only?

:P

I'm a tiny bit concerned we haven't seen any Scarlet renders in quite some time. Makes me think the whole schedule has been shifted around, with Epic front and center, Scarlet on the back burner. I sincerely hope this is not confirmed come late October.
