  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Incredible...

Hey Jim,
Thanks for the pics, I am curious, I noticed that the mount is removable.
Does that mean a B4 mount might be available instead of the $3500.00 adapter?
Thanks

Epic and FF35 are slightly wider than the Scarlet.

Although originally, there had been talk that the modules would be Epic width, and the Scarlet would have an adaptor plate to size up to them, rather than the other way around.
Peace,

-Harry

Honestly as an indie filmmaker, who is extremely conscious of budgeting for productions, I am nervously awaiting the purchase figures on these rigs.

Quality aside, how much do you guys think these rigs are gonna cost.

I'm more focused on the 2/3rd fixed. I'm wondering how much its gonna cost to get a rig thats functional.

If they stick close to their original plan, a fully functioning 2/3" fixed should run less than $5k. time will tell, I suppose.

Use your imagination here. There will be an incredible amount of possibilities to put a rig together and satisfy just about any application you can think of. I will be posting quite a few over the next few weeks until the schedule announcement later this month.

In the meantime... we'll give you some hope that the project is worth waiting for.

Is this a Scarlet or a Epic?

Any thoughts on any kind of body armor that will allow for good ventilation? I shoot in some very dusty environments in africa...?

I'm hoping there will be some good weather sealing on all modules. And it'd be great if there were captive caps for all the connectors like TV camcorders have.

I also hope that the top handle attachment points are seriously beefed up over the RED One's. The render does look stronger.

I always feel nervous lifting up a heavy configuration with just the RED One top handle without the handle extension, especially if the handle is cast rather than machined metal.

Cool LCD and Viewfinder. I'm guessing to monitor multiple formats or colorspace/RAW. Also one for the Operator one for the 1st AC.

Nice.

Rosettes everywhere, smart. Now that's modular.

DSMCTM stands for Digital Stills and Motion Camera... and by our definition, both need to be RAW (since we made it up, we make the rules). Last time I looked, none of the DSLRs have RAW motion... so they don't qualify. Call them something else.

Thanks.

Jim

Hmmm. . . maybe SCAM, Stills Camera And Motion

Isn't this the Mattbox we saw the Leader of the Rebellion (Ted) using on his aluminum finish Red One when testing out the Red Pro Primes over in Peter Majtan's garden?

Jim, is the large render of the camera from 2 different angles a SCARLET or EPIC? I notice that multiple people have asked the same question. Also, is the lens a mini series or pro prime and what will the 2/3" Scarlet kit include? (Im assuming EVF or LCD, Handle, and some sort of I/O audio module)

Thanks for all that your doing with this company and keep up the good work!

Jon

Jim, can we who use the Arri 15mm Studio spacing setup expect accessories from RED that match that spacing and setup?

That's right. I prefer having the modules be Scarlet size than Epic because it would be more compact and lighter.
