  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

IBC - GPU Build REDCINE-X Beta 21

Hi Kalulu,

This should be fixed now. The Betas will still auto update -- they were just removed from the website.

Cheers,
David

Justin,

You can report issues to redcinex at red dot com. Please include a full description, verbose log files, and any settings you are using.

Thanks,
David

just wanna remind red team how wonderful you are to provide us with this! its a game changer for non rocket owners! im gonna finally be able to spring for a machine that can really chew!

Justin,

Same issue here. Running a brand new tricked out iMac transcoding is crashing RedcineX 22 and the finder. Half res premium is the only setting that allows for a successful transcode to Pro res. Turning off Open CL support also allows the transcode to work but very slow.

Same issues. :-(

My RedCine-X v22 was failing on Transcodes, until I went into the prefences and looked at what the OpenCL settings were. It was using the Intel HD 4000 chip, and not the NVidia chip. I swapped the check marks, and now exports work as expected. And faster than expected.

Nick,

I checked out my Retina Macbook and the Redcine X prefs had selected the slower HD4000 chip that was only giving me 1/8 playback. I instead selected the GT 650 and playback is now at 1/4 debater and transcoding as we speak.

On my retina Mac I included both graphic cards and it gave me 1/4 playback. Awesome.

Phew, I so much want to have 2 or 3 powerful cards in a computer. I think I can see a Mac Pro 12 core with D500 or D700 64GB Ram in the future (I wish they had more though 64 is not so much).
Will be great to see some performance tests with the new Mac Pro!
And oh yea, I can't wait until the SDK will be released, I cry blood when I'm rendering from Final Cut Pro X.

It would be fantastic if Redcine had a benchmark program for us to test our hardware with. Just test how many frames per second it can render 6k,5k etc. Would be very handy, now its not so easy to test.
/Andreas

Hmmm. My old AJA Kona 3 works great with v. 22.

BUG: When loading a Dragon clip in version 22 DRX is inactive, which is correct. When adding it to a bin DRX becomes active, which is incorrect. It appears to do nothing to the image, but it is going to confuse peeps.

Hello,

I've a little problem. Does anyone know why when the open CL is enabled REDCINE-X crashes on my retina MBP Geforce GT650M when I load a clip in the viewer? When I unselect the open CL it does work.

Thanks.

Pat

yahooo

my WiFi card just came in from eBay so my Hackintosh is WiFi friendly and able to download the update! I wish I would have ordered it sooner just been so darn busy past two weeks.

any who thx Red Team for all your hard work on getting this out as soon as possible I know you guys where working over time on this. I appreciate Kris for all the info during the BETA phases and helping my with any questions I had.

Just transcoded some dragon footage with Build 21 v 22. The results are shocking.

what took 10 Min on Build 21 was less than 3 Min on Build 22.

Not only that but Red team enabled Dual GPU usage so my GTX 690 is romping at full speed I love it!

I couldn't be in a happier mood. So looking forward to my booked DIT jobs in Jan.

As for now I'm spent for the year and gonna sip on some egg nog with the family on Red Teams behalf.

Much love guys this is great news.

Anyone has already tried this out on the new mac pro??? I'm considering if the d500 will do, or if I should gofor the d700. I just found this thread and am now leaning towards the d700..will make an impact on performance in red cine I guess..?

Running build 22.1 with a titan on board. Playback works like a dream I can play full 5k real time however im getting slooooow export times to pro res.

30 min of footage is taking me about 2 hours to render. Any thoughts?
