  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HYDROGEN preorders...

Hard not to go Nuts though...

I mean seriously ... SpaceX + NASA + RED ... really ? HOW MUCH MORE AWESOME DOES SOMEONE WANT SOMETHING TO BE !!! :-) :-) :-) :-)

Ohh yeah HYDROGEN, you know that totally game changing ecosystem and method of professional and prosumer techniques and beyond... waaay beyond.

I have to say HYDROGEN has been by far the most mysterious and complex release I think RED has ever attempted
.

I don't know. A lot of work was done before on red cameras, sensors and redray. Accumulatively it would be the most complex.

I was going to follow up with a joke about filming NAB and Jim could say he's filming NAB from space and the hydrogen in-between with a hydrogen.

The Earth's atmosphere is a bit complex, traces of gases reach the moon. So there is (ahh, crop circles and magnetic sails patterns, there is an idea. Ah, force lines and magnetic sails technology. Worth looking at) a column of gases reaching far up. I think Wikipedia has a nice article on it. (Sorry, the thought of the gases sparked an idea about magnetic sail use. One of my own technologies for a flying vehicle/car decades ago, used a similar conceot to what I'm now thinking in reference to this email technology).

Eric, I wrote maybe twice about using a polar orbit around earth. The moon was just a cheap option for a scan. You could literally land things on the moon to do it, with enough to accommodate movement (but you get debris due to the moon's attraction). But considering it. You could do a cheap grid like scan using 4+ satellites in Earth polar orbit, but seperation between one acid become effectively zero as you get to the pole unless you offset that axis in the other axis (,just simulating it in my head) but if you modelled it as points of a square rather than points of a cross, you would get a triangle at least at the pole becoming a square again eventually, briefly, over the pole, but the movement of the Earth makes a curved scan path under it. But that is enough to get volumetric scan of the earth in X passes. Having an angled diamond or square (sorry my simulation is gone) will probably maintain done sort of distorted 4 point 3D volumetric reference. There we go, able to be done cheaply with micro sats for all those cryptozoologists. You want mm accuracy. 100km strips would be 100 million by 100 million pixels. I take back what I was saying about cheap. So, anything below 10km is pushing it for monitoring purposes due to wild life movement. Overlapping 100 Kilometers strios by 50km can keep track of many animals but birds need more.

Anyway. There is existing technologies you could get the helium3 mining costs down. Robotic control by orbiting space station is one. What you call it communications which I haven't implemented yet for out of site. Then there 8s a circular rail gun technology and plasma laser launch technologies Inpistedbabout before. So, as posted before about something. You could launch the hardware by these, and drastically cut the cost to orbit, then propel from there cheaply too. But instead, you could launch the 3D printer parts and materials. Now, the g forces in the circular rail gun system could be an issue for instruments etc. But pasts less so, and assembled up there, but materials great. Even if you have to rocket the start printer up there (well, the plasma lift system could do delicate instruments etc), you then supply the materials by the circular rail gun to the printer in orbit around the moon even, construct it there automatically. Test it, and then fly people up. The good thing about these two systems, is you could use a laser plasma system to continue acceleration after it leaves the circular rail gun, thus reducing the forces on that end. Circular rail guns are dangerous. One stray bird at high speed and it's going great messy. You could do extended acceleration, but the oscillating wave forces (Nope just overcame them with the design in my mind for the stadium projector that was designed to turn at 1000th the speed of light). Something like that could be more expensive, but would control the oscillation furces much better). As I was going to say the oscillating stresses on the aoeratus could damage it into castrophic failure the longer you maintain high speed (I prefer a tens of miles sled, ahh theirs a use for Musk's vacuums tube technology). But just a tremor or ground movement along the track. But, incorporating scram jet technology you can electrically get it up to speed and launch activating the jet for more propulsion, control and aim. 100km even better. You still have the issue of stresses in a tube, and wind pressures, and interactions with the stresses inside.

I forgot, there is an interesting science article on something else which I spotted a link to and was going to post if it does turn out to be the same as one of my other discoveries.

Anyway, return if helium 3 is by luna rail gun. Dead cheap. I think the use of a rail gun in orbit is something missed. You could by solar power (10x or 100x the energy in discs or something than what we get on the ground). You could lsser plasma stuff to orbit, load onto a rail gun (why not just use a ion drive) in orbit, send to luna orbit, and the return. People and equipment could be easily exchanged that way, and the plasma sided descent might make that a reusable option. So, there heaps of options to reduce costs. I often thought how expensive the modern revolutionary reusable lift systems would be. The issue with using the plasma system for cheap fast world travel, is you have to trust a multitude of satellites to correctly fire high powered lasers at you, maybe one of those days flying at one time. This produces a lot of variables. If they hit wrong, how is that going to effect the tragetory of the craft and the poor people inside. However, for simple orbital launches a one on one between laser and launch vehicle exists, with back up rescue lasers and rescue plans for failures along the flight path. I like this thing. But then again, a solar sail version is probably better than all 9f this. Very 1 to none dependencies, very controllable. They will need to fund this before the Chinese start the luna mining.

Now Eric, zi didn't think there 2as much Helium 3 up there compared to the ground, and they were trying to figure out where it was, decades ago? It's all dodgey stuff. A better scheme was to put up solar satellites that then relayed the energy down to earth. The proposal I read was by microwaves, but messy. You could use a concentrator, but are going grtblosd and heating of the atmosphere. Transference to a desirable frequency can reduce thus, but conversion efficiency is an issue. But going sideways to a laser, and onto a little known weapon system that uses a uv laser to make a plasma corridors through the air and then run electrical current down one and up the other. You could do the same with a desired frequency (will that produce localised rain for cropping too?). But there is not much atmosphere in space. So, you could run a concentrator/other to a platform that does the electric corridor thing. Now solutions depends onbl costs and efficiencies. But on the other side is security. Within decades individuals will be able to launch things which can interfere with these.b if there were such a thing as aliens, then they could easily knock out the world's power supply if you depended on this. So localised helium 3 backup would be the thing. But having it at the same sites as the receiving hubs on the ground, makes it vulnerable to the same attacks. Having it in separate locations is expensive, but means it is still vulnerable to similar interference unless you distribute it finely. But why not use solar energy etc, on every property, which gives billions of locations to attack, and not really worth it. What the government doesn't realise, is that not only can the Chinese mine helium 3 to run it's factories, but they could use it to run power plants across borders and beam power to households and cities. Even if they put it inside birbder they still collect the ombry and collapse local revenue streams. Leaving you with nothing, as Sun Tzu might say. What greedy foolish people don't realise, is that they have been at war for decades but their greed has blinded them into selling rope (you know the quote, but different). So, there national security is at risk, and as much as they talk about a space defence force, it is too late. Like buying burning gas from you know who. In Japan, they do forwards planning ten, 25, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 years etc. A lot we can learn from them but a lot others can see and emulate too. If a certain government doesn't think another certain government doesn't have government and military doing economic planning over these time frames behind closed doors, they are naive. Time to stop greed based economics.

So, what happens when the good people jump ship after a sell out. The companies looses talent and direction and may fail. I'm for documenting things and why and how and redundant people. So, if you loose one somebody else knows their job, if you loose several it's documented and kept secure for somebody else to pickup, and for future generations. I was going to structure my business like this. One of my potential partner's was skitzy on the idea of me pulling back from everyday operations after x years when things were established, and sticking to a president /consultant position. Which in affect is fine, as you work with the CEO on company strategy and planning anyway, and as you have it set up well to be self sustaining and best staff, and recovery strategies in place. But he wanted to become a big self made real-estate developer. I still want to do multifaceted businesses over time, starting a new branch and establishing old ones.

Ummmmm. I can't remember what the question was, now!:rolleyes5:

Well at 1/4 of a million miles the Moon is pretty much in an absolute vacuum appart from solar winds... I think the "slowing" of the Moon was as an indirect result of gravitational attraction of the Erath's oceans and indirectly friction of the oceans/ tides... Maybe that's a myth.

Need to do my homework..

The interesting things about the Lunar regolith (soil) because of eons of solar winds the surface of the Moon is apparently packed with Helium 3. Helium 3 is a "substance" that actually makes fusion reactors 'Work"... I.e. the nuclear fusion reactions don't kick out very many neutrons where as more normal terrestrial attempts and fusion reactor design inevitable end up with creating a high density of neutrons that basically completely shred the walls of any reactor.

There is this idea that Chinese are keen on developing capabilities to eventually mine the Moon for Helium 3. You would only need to send a few tonnes of Helium 3 every year from the Moon to power a pretty decent sized country for a year.

If anyone fully figures that out the that would or could change the political landscape of Earth for ever. I.e. no longer dependent on Oil from the middle East. And no green house emissions.

The cost to accomplish that are pretty considerable like $2M / minute to mine the Moon in such a way.

Maybe I did up some refs.

@Wayne what's wrong with polar orbit for a satellite in Orbit around Earth ... Why the Moon ?

Still wondering what R3D tech (according to Jarred) is on the ISS (International Space Station)...

Maybe they made a spherical Hydrogen with mini propulsion system/ fans etc. to follow astronauts about the interior of the ISS.

It's a bit like a little Moon or "Pod" that follows you around ... Kind of a mini drone for micro gravity environment inside a space station? Not sure what the technical term is for one of those?

^^^ SpaceX + NASA + ISS + R3D (payload) ? (from the insta-jarRED channel :-) ).

INT-ball +JAXA (wonder if it uses SHARP sensors?) ... NAB ? One of these was launched / carried up to the ISS by a SPACEX Falcon 9 (amongst several thousand pounds of other equipment and supplies (previous mission last year)).

Yeah, I was thinking of the possibility of doing something like that at some time

That reminds me, I have been meaning to buy luna realestate for a colony.

That Jada bunch, I can solve their space junk problem. Another thing on my list. The latest solution (I just came up with while looking at it and then writing here) is rather intriguing and really cheap. There is another way just organised itself, but maybe not as cheap or intriguing.

They say a piece of space junk has to be a few centremeters. I've seen a good picture of an pain flex embedded very deeply in the shuttles main window. Imagine what it could do to a satellites and what the bits of 5hat could in turn do. But just a little junk 2 by 2 by 2 millimetres. But honestly, when they make components that can survive re-entry, there will be even more issues. You know I've come up with alternatives to satellites. A fraction of using satellites. The world is full of drongis, who ironically might think they are the ones who aren't, but there is a universe out there.

I often used to do science fiction stories to pass the time, accross stars and the universes. I try to keep everything credible by coming up with new ways to actually do things, to manipulate physics. What we have seen so far, is so little (advanced physics is way out there). Of course, except for the technologies, these are pure fantasies. Which is why I am so well grounded in reality, I know the difference. But many live in their own little logic fantasies tied to emotion rather than what should be..

Just seen a few updates on Fuchsia.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Fuchsia

Could it possibly be.....

No, I wont finish that thought....

Do you have a good memory or just came in? I've been on Google for years to upgrade android, finally getting there after a number of improvements. I've been more interested in starting an alternative to Google than a camera. I'm glad to see things gradually improving.

I was wondering if the underlying os might be related to the new os with Android on top until a full release of the new is is ready.

One of the issues, is loosing the Linux hardware support apart from the previously missing Linux program support. This will mean less hardware support outside of the target market and continuity issues because things have split further. For people that want to expand it out to desktop support, how much hardware would it be.

Will the OS be good for performance software cameras compared to the old one. Which means a lot more opportunity. If only they would allow linux app sandbox and on store, it would be good intermediate step.

Definitely. Please can we have some news? Pretty please with sugar-frosting on...

I'm stuck with a cheapo Nokia 'tide-me-over' till the H1 comes out I have some extra time (hence the posts...). I can call people and I can text people and thats pretty much it while I'm on the move. I am so out of the loop at the moment unless, like now, I am sat with my laptop.

I know some of my friends think I've done this deliberately to avoid them - a couple have referred to me as 'digital hermit' (which is sooo not true...but is starting to feel like a bonus (did I just say that? ('4th wall break inside a 4th wall break' - I love that movie!))).

I can remember using my laptop like I have to at the moment. It wasn't that long ago...was it? (Yep!)

With my 'tide-me-over' there are no selfies, no pickies, no movies, no skype, no social networking, no emails, no internet, no games, no gallery, no shopping, no instagram, no drawing, no tasks, no calendar, no reminders (I think I could use the alarm but I can't be bothered cause it's such a faf). And that's just the things I can remember without a normal smartphone in front of me.

Anyway, one of my still-in-the-loop friends emailed me this to remind me of some of the things I am missing. I think the guy in the last clip was me a couple of weeks ago before my Z3 died...

https://youtu.be/vh5sZekxUpg

Made me smile so....enjoy.

Can't wait to be back in the loop again....with my H1...

TRUST IN RED!

@ PM that link is f*cking hilarious LOVE THAT ! Totally nailed.

How's the Noke's doing any progress on sponge-Nokia-Flip_banana-phone ANY UPDATES ?

As a kid growing up in London... I belong to generation that didn't have mobile phones at one time...

As a 9 or ten year old I could for less than 5 quid (Five British Pounds) and a couple of hours on the Tube (British subway) be literally anywhere in the whole of greater London and my parents or no-one else would have the faintest idea where I was in one of the largest Cities and metropolises in Europe.

Anyone get an email about their pre-order yet?

Not me...
I think the idea is to drag one self to RED STudios Hollywoo.

Or hang tite.

Still don't know if we all have to sign NDA's or not ?

Thank you for asking. Noke 2 is still great...well, when I say great I mean it's working.* More accurately Noke 2 is 'meh!'

Banana sponge phone was a resounding failure. I completely failed to factor in that someone in my house loves sponges more than me. When I say loves sponges he REALLY loves sponges...well, to be exact he loves nibbling them into tiny pieces and consuming those pieces.

Charlie is a huge part Springer Spaniel so with his massive snozz power he was at my side begging for the sponge before I could start to insert the phone.* After the death of Noke 1 I decided not even to try. If Charlie decided to chomp on a phone filled sponge....I wouldn't be worried about the phone, I'd be worried about Charlie and not knowing the toxicity of Nokia phone components...

Back to the drawing board for ideas with fewer health & safety risks...
