  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sony 4K TV

4K Media player coming out soon to go with them. I think I may give the 65-incher a look once it comes out. That's just the right size for my space where a 60-inch Sony SXRD TV currently sits.

Def on my NAB to do list now, How cool would it be to see R3D footage as it was intended without being a gizzilionaire!!

the 4K player is coming out now and it is 699 incl 10 movies.....they seem to be serious....

Cool! Too bad we already purchased a new 70" Vizio TV to replace our old 1080P professional grade Sony that was going yellow due to an unfixable manufacturing error. Love Sony's cameras but I'm not trusting their TVs ever again but I do appreciate that they're aiming for affordable pricing right out the gate, should make the 4K TV competition interesting. Also, I really hope this new 4K streaming will be in the PS4 or else they may lose some PS4 purchases from the home media crowd.

Credit card is ready. You can currently place orders on BHphoto.

I'd like to see Samsung's option as well. We'll have to wait and see.

I do love my Sony Bravia 40-inch that I bought 5 years ago...The TV has never let me down, especially in color rendition.

I dunno if I'll ever buy a Samsung again. I'm on the fence about their brand though I like what they make and how it's designed. I bought a 55-inch LED TV for several grand - high end model mind you - and their matching Blu-Ray player and both have a lot of problems. There's serious issues with their players overheating and their LED TVs going bad within two years due to faulty manufacturing from what I've read online and seen with my own two eyes. When I turn on the TV, I get a grid pattern that stays on the screen for twenty minutes or so and Samsung won't acknowledge it as a faulty panel even though it's documented as such in many cases where repair techs have gone out and evaluated it. The cost to replace is simply too high as I can buy another LED TV for the same price. The only area in which Sony falls short is software design. Their Hulu app must have been made by a brain-damaged monkey on crack instructing two other brain-damaged monkeys on crack.

I think that samsung is better for it's cost than sony for higher value...

Samsung "Smart TV" GUI and apps are totaly useless crap

I agree. I love their Hulu app though. That thing is the only solid app I get out of them.

I saw both of these new Sony UHD TVs at NAB. They're awesome. And the price-point is on target (5K for the 55" and 7K for the 65"). Of course Sony was sending their best 4K content to these TVs on display but the picture was truly amazing. I want the 65" in my living room right now...

The 65" is nice. I can't say I'm wild about the built-in speakers. Don't care for the look or the wasted space. Or the fact that a good number of people who buy the display, like myself and any audiophile out there, will never use them. Sony speakers always sound like ass-horns anyway.

I saw them at NAB as well, but make the mistake of seeing them after looking at the 4k OLED across the isle .
That OLED ( 54" ? ) was cranked up and eye popping. Hypnotic . Visual liquid candy . Insane Rio Carnival footage. Looked 3d.
The LCD's looked dull low contrast and bad.
I went back the next day and looked at the LCD's first, and they still looked desaturated to me.
I don't know if it is physiological at this point.
