  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Help A soldier out...

What country is seriously going to invade the USA?

And if every house in America has an AR-15
And every fifth house has a 50 caliber sniper rifle
And every 20th house has a 50 Cal HMG
And every 50th house has a RPG
(this is why the 2nd Amendment exist)

Then who the hell ever has a chance on ever ever being able to overtake the whole of the USA?!

Reread it again. The reason they are not is because of military might. But you skipped over that, and it being in reference to your remark on having something less than a coast guard, how realistic is that? Or Iraq, or Afghanistan where a lot of weapons also exist, and I think the largest standing army and anti aircraft system of its time, but invasion still happened. I'll be realistic niave enough to think some proverbial pea shooters and a sub coast guard class defence system is going to prevent an invasion in this modern warfare world. Without a nuclear deterrent or sheild, and in the sub cost guard scenario, you could just bomb any city of too much trouble with strategic nukes a d build cities elsewhere. You start first by strategically bombing the sub coast guard bases, and it's over. You then can make rapid landfalls, and strategically wedge your way out through the under armed rural population, and starve cities out. Similar to how it has been done before in history. No great revelation, just the reality. So, the emporer has no cloths as far as the military isn't needed, because the military prevented the problem in the first place by being there, ready. It's like the quote from a movie, the storm is coming to destroy the town, and when it doesn't, storm adverted like it's miraculous. In this case storm damage is being prevented by a storm wall, but because there is no storm damage people actually like there is no need for a storm wall. The likely scenario, is without one the town would be damaged.

By the way. I said invasion, I don't think I said take over the whole country, though with a sub coast guard defense system, that could happen. But just the attempt means possible shortages and a drastic, affording capacino reducing economy. With the likely hood of loosing sections over time. Look what happened to Spanish northern American.

You don't know how bad it can get, in China during world war 2 a death camp was being set up which could kill everybody in the world 6 times over. It's diabolical. In the cold war there was a proposal to make a tanker into a giant nuclear bomb that would roam off the coast, and if the Soviet "experiment" was to fail, was proposed to be set off polluting the atmosphere and killing all life on Earth. Law enforcement is needed to stop crazy and protect the pacifists. It requires a balance of people to be safe. Peace if peace is just and good, and war if needed. I know a ex-special forces colonel, who argued with me that people have let the realisation of all our war and sacrifice, because I seek ethical compromise. I say, that true leadership is about having something left worth living for. He is right, but so am I. It comes to a point where politically you have to decide what is right and enough, and the conduct up to that point.

It's never really about this way or that, it is about what best to take from both sides to the middle ground.

And they think "I'm" a dreamer.

I've just watched the Bojack show, really. How many shows are we going have to put up with. It looks better than many shows, some of which are real "jerk" shows. While I'm not either this side or that side as far as what I just saw, the fact that it came from that side is the issue, as much as if it was the other side. Who self entitled them to make this show? There has been an American history X of shows self entitledly insulting people. I watched Sarah Silverman last month, and apart from being very attractive and talentedly funny, and looking like a freind of mine, who had a niece who is named Silverman, like the daughter she had in the TV series, who gives her the right to be so obnoxiously offensive in her act (she is an shock/offence comedian. I'm sure she is nicer in real life).

Spiritualizing the marriage? Got kids, Wayne (of Your own that is, those delivered by stork don't count)? :prrr:

What do You mean by "trapped"? All is about the people. If people weren't selfcentered, people would be off of themselves, alienated, ex-centric. People would make themselves a marionettes, or puppets. Or minions...

I hope you got that I was liking your previous post and not having a go at you Šabović?

You seem to miss that marriage is based on the spiritual, not the other way about. That was the point, it's not spirtualising something that already is. If you believe that your kids come by stork, then I'm afraid I'm the more rational one.

But people are trapped in their own self-centredness, often constricted in working together towards the greater good, their own little dieties of self serving, especially atheistic, delusion. One of the things it is all about, is relationship.

The next war will be cyber . . . and it started full throttle in 2015 with the weaponizing of Facebook and our other social media. It will end with whoever gets full on AI with a high powered quantum computer. If you can crack every password and walk through every firewall - you control the entire planet. Period. Stock markets, infrastructure, satellites, launch codes etc all can be hacked. 90%+ of all currency exists on computers only. Hack that - get paid a trillion dollars. The Russians are waaaay ahead of us on this score.

Block chain.

Guns, tanks and physical occupations of countries are going to be like buggy whips going forward.

I somewhat agree but I do think we will continue to have conflicts... carried out by robots, drones, drone ships, space wars. I don't think civilian populations will be targeted, and I think the main players will not be willing to colonialize a defeated country. Too much of a headache to serve the population.

...technology has made the ancient hero myth and physical warfare obsolete.

To be sure . . . . physical warfare will be obsolete very soon

According to Singularity University, Wars, Govts. wealth, middlemen will all become obsolete because we will be able to print whatever we need, so no need to protect ours or acquire another's possessions. It will be necessary to control behaviour to keep the serial killers from killing for the thrill of it. Sounds like a planet of robots to me.

I don't buy the Block Chain magic myth. Sure for large banks, corporations and government transactions this might come into play, but then any security a human can devise can be unlocked and gamed when enough resources are applied to it.

Quantum computing represents unlimited power to those very few who possess it. Besides, I wonder what percentage of the critical components of the World's economy, infrastructure and industry runs on Windows95 still. Have you seen that John Oliver bit on the state of our nuclear silos? 5" floppy discs. As long as there are humans at the controls there will be error and it doesn't take much to disrupt the status quo. 9/11 was a single day over 15 years ago that changed everything to the worse. They had box cutter technology.

You currently have State sponsored AI efforts that are taking on a military conquest vibe because they know winner takes all. Would make a cool movie script: the 3 way battle between Russia, China and the good guys in America racing toward the event horizon called AI Spring, where the machines write their own algo's to dominate every technological corner of the earth. Only a group of optimistic young, mixed race / nationality computer nerds can head off this certain extinction of the human race. In the end the kids make the Generals and Multi-national banksters see the errors of their greed and brutality thereby having a Spielberg happy ending.

Ha!

All very good points. I personally think the Blockchain will work. If you have Quantum computers attacking it and Quantum computers protecting it... may the best Qbits win or at least reach stasis. And yes I did see the nuclear silo floppy disk piece. It's foolish to keep those things active. We have nuclear armed nuclear subs that probably have more than enough capability to waste the world.

Ha!
I don't think the "winner takes all" comment is apropos. For instance, the crypto currency raid in Japan. It only robbed 400 million from that one type of "coin". None of the other coins were bothered because they were probably not vulnerable at the time. And as for something like our electrical grid, there are thousands of attacks happening all the time. We are not a nation of dummies as our social media may suggest (criminals posting their dastardly deed.) We are a nation of brilliance.

As for other nations trying to steal our secrets or attack our country, we seem to be more vulnerable to rogue countrymen (later to be converted to a countrywoman) giving away our secrets or damaging us internally (Timothy McVea). Take away the human element and we seem capable of thwarting cyber attacks. Our military budget exceeds that of China and Russia put together. Russia is actually having to decrease theirs due to the sanctions against them.

You seem to direct your remarks against generals and such toward American military. It seems to me you should also take note of Russia's actions vis a vis the Crimea, and China's trying to make the China Sea their very own by building artificial islands. Personally I like who we are in relation to those other guys.

Yeah, ur scrpt snds cuel. Mine dealling with similar, yet totally different, issues is much more plausible. I actually think Spielberg would prefer shooting mine. :)

The reason crypto anything still works is because we haven't reached the event horizon on AI. ...

Who says we ever will? Bill Gates, Elon Musk et al are saying we maybe shouldn't go there. Remember when George W. played Solomon and declared we could no longer create new Embryonic Stem Cells (ESCs)? The upshot of that was that we instead learned how to create Induced Pluropotent Stem Cells (IPSCs) and because of that we are on the verge of near immortality. Maybe we limit AI and something even better arises.

The reason crypto anything still works is because we haven't reached the event horizon on AI. Once that happens a whole bunch of fundamental and existential questions come into play. Starting with the concept and value of money and also human supremacy. The difference between us and the gorillas in the mist is computing power. AI can do 20,000 years of human computing in a second.

To think there will be several competing quantum computers of equal power, but developed and owned by different States, is missing the point of greed and consolidation of power. The real bottom-line is that a several Billionaires will turn into Trillionaires with the help of their Kleptocracies and puppets. See Russia for that business model in action - they have friends in very high places in DC.

At that level, there is no National Allegiance so the whole concept of borders, race and loyalty to country is something to distract the peasants while the Billionaires split up the wealth. That is, until our hero nerd kids show us the gift of sharing and caring. I totally want to get Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox back together for this flick.

Yes, all events to this point are within the range of human comprehension and development velocity. Consider how slowly biological evolution occurs then compare that to the coming soon self replicating algo's of super computers. These computers are not restricted by a dull sense of George W morality - they will be clinical and, like everything else humans have ever done, weaponized for personal gain and conquest.

I love the saying about the human brain and evolution: "Humans are running 2018 software on 30,000 year old hardware"

As we are both alluding to movies and movie plots, I think you see the world as a Michael Bay movie while I see it more as a Spielberg-plausible one where humans control where we are in the future rather than being controlled by the bad decisions we might make going forward. Maybe we are the very model of a modern major Quantum Entanglement. :)

Are . . . you . . . saying the Transformers are not . . . real??

Naah, I like more of a '82 Blade Runner vibe with some ambiguity about our existence being real or synthetic. Replace Replicates with Simulation. No matter, Vangelis is totally doing my soundtrack

Whew! went back and checked this post and realized I was answering you before you even posted the statement. Pondered if this was a misfolded Time Protein putting us in the Mad Cow Zone. Thanks for the explanation!

Rick & Morty shit right there ;-)

Just wanted to revisit this post as a new thought came to mind. You said "Consider how slowly biological evolution occurs then compare that to the coming soon self replicating algo's of super computers."

I should have said "You do realize scientists have created a new human being from chemicals? They only let it go through a few cell divisions before destroying it, but it will one day be possible to do it if we let it. I think you are missing the big picture by just concentrating on computers and AI. The real determinate of where we go in the future will be biological."

At first it will be biological perhaps, but there is no reason to limit the God knowledge power to an organic, human bipedal form. That's 8 bit technology. Add to that the fuckwits that will control this power (reference: current world leaders) and you have a real shit sandwich for future of the human race. As Sam Harris says: "AI will think of us like we do ants. We don't go out of our way to kill them - unless they interfere with our goals"

10x this with an AI twist:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elysium_(film)

Throw in human cloning / eugenics and you will have two species of humans. You think a guy like Trump wouldn't go for picking kids out of a genetic catalog? I'm looking at you Eric. Probably will be an App for billionaires to specify their kids attributes. So the movie script has to address that inevitability as well ;-)

Edit: if you want to see the future for average humans: look inside Amazon's warehouses and the distribution of wealth and power within that company.

You take God back, I'll take back everything I said. Deal?

You will have to clarify what "Man" means. Does "Man" have to be carbon based ? Maybe the evolution of what is considered "Mankind" won't be a cell base organism at all. Maybe "Man" will be a silcon AI based entity with a "soul" that can update and repair itself indefinitely and go much further beyond us into time.

"Man" will be the machine that goes beyond.
