  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone recieved the microMatteBox for Red One?

Mitch,
If it is system one, then we would have to adapt the bellows that you sell? You guys don't have any system one bellows units in stock?

The bellows would fit. It was more a question of needing to know exactly what parts were needed. To get a bellows adapter, rear bellows a couple of light trap rings and a pair of 5.65x5.65 trays will cost considerably more than the RedRock Micro mattebox. Something like TWICE as much more.

Hi all,

If you filled out a reservation form then you are a reservation holder. If you don't know, then just drop me a line brian@redrockmicro.com and I can tell you.

Mitch - the bellows adapter is listed under the MB20 II spec sheet, so unless I am not reading your literature correctly (it is the MB20 II page, though it also lists compatibility with I) I assume it's good for both systems.

Also just so folks know, Suede had a legitimate concern - we missed his order. He is one of the very first to purchase and is a reservation holder, and should have received his in the first shipments. We are taking care of it now. Glad these boards are valuable for all of us to get things straight.

Brian--

Yes, once I parted out what you were talking about I realized it is a part of either system. Sorry I didn't clarify this earlier.

Arri Parts

Arri Parts

Just wanted to confirm that the Arri's parts do work on the Red Rock Micro Matte Box.

1. Back 138mm Bellows Adapter (K2.65028.0) $512.00
2. 138mm Filter Ring w/114mm Ret (K2.47190.0) $324.00 (for Red 18-50)
3. Large Diameter Wide-Angle Light Trap Ring 117mm (K2.49099.0)
(for Red 300mm) $68.40
4. 5.65 x 5.65 Filter Tray (K2.65022.0) $281.70

It's all on my Red Rock Matte Box now, and works perfect. You just need to remove the original plastic bellow. You just unscrew the original bellow and under that, there are tapped holes with the correct spacing and thread size for the Arri K2.65028.0. The Arri allows for a 138mm round filter to be placed in the K2.47190.0. The filter trays work great. They fit tighter than the originals. Less light to leak threw between the tray and the stage. There was a slight gap with the Red Rock filter trays.

Purchased at Film Tools they had everything in stock.

Let me know if you want me to post pictures.

Pancro Filters

Pancro Filters

The Pancro IR/ND filters are great. The only slight problem is they are cut slightly smaller than 5.65 x 5.65 . They can fall through the Arri filter tray if not careful. The Schneider and Tiffen filter are the exact size and do not have that potential. The Pancro's do touch the filter tray edges but not by much, if your not dead on, they can fall through.

Yes. Please post pictures. By the way, why do we need 5.65x5.65 trays?

If your like me, you are using lenses with a fairly big front element. Therefore you need a 5.65x5.65 Pola to cover those lenses. Personally, considering the fact that Arri's 5.65x5.65 tray is $300+, I think I'm gonna just wait for the RRM tray. Hopefully, that will come out fairly soon as I will be without a pola until then.

Matthew

PS. What is the weight of the RED bundle with the top flag?

DAServices - pictures would be great thanks a million

Matthew - you could also look at the 138mm cir pola as an option

I had thought about that reading more about the cir pola's, but then I would still have to buy something for the pola to sit in, plus the pola. The arri 138mm part for a filter is at least $300, so I wouldn't be saving any money:( Plus, I've already bought a 5.65x5.65 pola along with my ND filters...

How long are you estimating it will take before you release 5.65x5.65 filter tray? Are you thinking Sept, or Jan of next year? It shouldn't be very hard to make right? All you've got to do is take the 4x5.65 and expand it to 5.65x5.65.. Or do you also have to expand the stage to fit 5.65 also?

Matthew

The filter stages themselves already support up to 5.65" square (as evidence by earlier posts). It's only the filter tray itself that we need to produce. We don't have an eta for that, and I hope you'll understand I'm a bit gunshy on announcing dates until we have them in stock

Brian

Mitch, regardless of cost...you are saying you have the parts in stock and for how much? Should I email sales?

Yes, email sales. Or you can email me and I will forward your email to them. I don't track our inventory (we stock thousands of items from hundreds of manufacturers).

Hey, Brian. The Red Bundle fits into a Pelican 1600/Storm 2700, correct?

For the 19mm version, the pelican 1600. I can't say on the Storm, but if that's the Storm equivalent, then yes

Brian

Mitch,
Why is it that I need the 5.65x5.65 trays to make the bellows unit work on the RR?

You don't. That's just the other item that Red Rock doesn't make that can be instead purchased from Arri.

Brian,

You've got class. I've spent a lot of time waiting for things this last year and I must say, you've handled the ups/downs of the new product launch extremely well. Looking forward to getting and using the mattebox--and also looking forward to 138mm bellows/holder and bigger trays and all kinds of other extremely helpful items for crazy less $$$$ than the alternatives.

This is great.
