  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone recieved the microMatteBox for Red One?

PS - we have our 18-85 testers now, so none more needed. Thanks again to the respondees

The microRemote is turning into something very cool. I can't say too much now but when you see the new design and features it will be immediately obvious and pretty remarkable. Our target for the microRemote is still roughly $500 US.

Brian

Brian, I own your Mattebox and have been pleased with its performance.
I'm interested in your microRemote...is your $500 target price for all three "essential components"? When will it be available?

Great questions

Can't say too much right now, but we can say our target price includes one motor, control box (on camera) and handheld wireless unit. The best I can give you time-wise is target of 2009.

Hi Harmonica/DJ

We are developing a 138mm mounting solution. I think there are plenty of 138mm filters out there, so we don't have current plans on offering our own. We still offer the IR Cut filter, and our microFilters Bundle including 0.6 ND, 0.6 ND Grad, and circ polarizer.

Cheers

Brian,

If I order today, how long will it be before the matte box is delivered. On your site it says 40 days. Over a month to get the mattebox??

Thanks,

Hello Frazier

We are down to under 2 weeks now edging closer to 1 week lead time. We just updated some rogue pages today that said 40 days, but if you still see that somewhere please pm me the link and we'll update it.

Thanks

Hi all,

first of all I want to say thankyou to Brian and RedRockMicro for sending us a free MicroMatteBox 18-85 back bracket to review!

We were away for the Xmas/New Year's break but today I went back to work and took photos of the bracket with our Red 18-85 lens.

In short, the revised bracket fits perfectly with only the thinnest of possible gaps, just enough to feed the barrel of the lens through. On a production I'd put some tape around where the matte box meets the lens, but you'd have to have a light almost directly behind you to get any sort of possible filter flare going. It's really that close!

So here are a few photos showing just how close the tolerances are (note we are also using Optitek's excellent 18-85 lens bracket, another highly recommended for all 18-85 owners):

The donuts used for other lenses fit in the revised back bracket just the same so there's essentially no difference barring the slightly wider hole. If you are planning on getting the Red 18-85 just get this revised bracket version, it's all you need.

In fact my hope is that RedRockMicro just make this the one and only version for future deliveries as it is a complete replacement for the older version plus it accommodates the Red 18-85 perfectly!

Cheers,

Paul
