  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone recieved the microMatteBox for Red One?

Hi Vince

We are working on three things for the Red-centric community

1. support for 15mm studio (this has been delivered and has been shipping for about 2 weeks now)

2. 5.65" square filter trays (just leaving design now)

3. 138 circ. filter (in design right now)

Cheers

Brian

Vince, you can use the 138mm adapter for the the arri MB 20 for the redrock if you need it soon I believe.

Yes, newspeak is correct in that. You also need the arri bellows adapter as well to connect the two. Mitch Gross knows all on this :)

Brian

Thanks Brian. Yes you can use the bellows back from an MB20 on the RedRock and then house a 138mm filter in the bellow back. But let me note that the parts for this option come in at about twice the cost of the entire RedRock mattebox itself. We have sold a number of these kits and have a specific bundle in our system so all you have to do is ask a Sales Rep. about it.

Hi folks

We have a modified back for the microMatteBox with a larger lens opening for the Red 18-85 2.8 lens (142mm). If anyone has that lens and a microMatteBox and wants to try it out, free to the first comer who can verify it fits and posts pictures of the rig. Please PM me. First come first served.

Thanks

Brian

138 circ. filter (in design right now)

Brian- First of all, I just want to say that I'm loving my mattebox. Thank you!

Now, concering the 138mm filter: Are you developing an actual filter, or is it a 138mm mounting solution a la Arri bellows? Or both?

Hi Harmonica/DJ

We are developing a 138mm mounting solution. I think there are plenty of 138mm filters out there, so we don't have current plans on offering our own. We still offer the IR Cut filter, and our microFilters Bundle including 0.6 ND, 0.6 ND Grad, and circ polarizer.

Cheers

Brian

The micromattebox rocks. For the price its incredible. I cant wait to see the modification. I had to temporarily remove the back cover to fit my cooke 20-100 - but it worked like a charm. The 5.65 square trays will be great too, especially since they more than likely wont be $400 a pop like other companies.
Great Job brian!

Yes - to be sure we will let the Red Community in on all our secrets.

And should we have a native 19mm follow focus we have coming out next month, we'll be sure to let you know that as well :)

So there's a support bracket for 15mm studio rods now? How can I get one?

Thanks Brian, and be sure to start a new post with your news as this one is getting loooooooong!

I'm waiting for the 19mm follow focus too. When the ff will be ready I'll order your mattebox aswell :)
Keep up the hard work Mr Valente.

How is the pricing of the microRemote gonna be?

How is the pricing of the microRemote gonna be?

Hello everyone,

i was wondering if somebody in here could already give an estimation about how the pricing for the microRemote will look like.

We are using the mattebox already - it is great!

Hi everyone

Hm - this is getting a bit diffused on the topics. We'll have to start some separate threads as new products are introduced.

SF Geek - we have 15mm studio support that we posted about some time ago. You can find it here: http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c.472981/it.A/id.533/.f?sc=2&category=864

The microRemote is turning into something very cool. I can't say too much now but when you see the new design and features it will be immediately obvious and pretty remarkable. Our target for the microRemote is still roughly $500 US.

I have placed the order and received the Mattbox 3 weeks later, however not with the flight case, as they say its in back order.

Thank you Mr. Valente for this rough estimation. We will be awaiting the microRemote.

All the Best

Hey Brian!
What height does the 15mm Studio swing away arm land the mattebox at?

Ive been using a riser to get the mattebox on the support system up to the correct height of the zoom. I'm wondering if id still need to do that using the studio swing away?

Hi Nate

I'll check with our guys on the exact vertical spacing, but I have fit it on several Red setups and it works like a charm. No adapter needed assuming you have a standard arri style offset plate.
