  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone recieved the microMatteBox for Red One?

my third stage is proving difficult to install. Finners video on installation is with
a RRMB that has Hex screws according to him, Mine has really tiny phillips screws that are really tight. I stripped the first one not knowing how tightly they were set. I had to use a jewelers screwdriver and wrench to get the rest out.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to your MB. I had no difficulty in mounting the 3rd stage. It's tight and works great.

Brian, any tips on what to do if the arm for the matte box is a bit loose where it slides on to the twin 15mm rods? I've tightened the knob down as hard as I can and it still slides fairly freely. I have three matte boxes and this is only happening on one. Rest are fine.

It's not a huge problem as I can put tape in front and behind on the rods to prevent slippage but for the long term it does need a fix of some kind.

Cheers,

Paul

Paul, we have the same problem on two MB and we use multiple washers. That helps. But you still have to tighten hard. I'm worried the screw thread will crack up.

Is the Redrockmicro suitable for the UK hire market ? It looks a very good product.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it and see how it goes.

Dave, it's more than suitable for rental, that's what we are using them for. Yes, Arri is better, but for the price it is a sensational matte box.

Cheers,

Paul

Update - the washer tip worked! Thanks again Alexander.

For info, I added two more of the washers that came with the kit and then tightened it back down. It is now grabbing the way it should.

Cheers all!

Hi everyone

FYI we are now shipping a 15mm studio arm - it's actually a combination 19mm/15mm studio arm, as pictured below:

It is available as part of our standard Red Bundle mattebox. At the moment it is only available in new microMatteBox bundles, but should be available as a standalone item shortly.

Thanks

Brian

Hey Paul. I have the same problem with that screw not clamping down tight enough.

Brian, is there a fix for this? Should we contact you through RedRock. Seems like a common problem.

Perry Ho - I am trying to respond to your PM but you have "receive PM" turned off. Please turn it on!

Brian I sent you an email yesterday regarding the purchase of the mattebox without an arm (to avoid multiple arms once I purchase additional matteboxes). I got your response. My new question is, should I place my order for the shoulder mount and mattebox separate from the other items to avoid shipping delays? I wasn't sure what the lead time was for new mattebox orders.

Hi Avenger007

Right now our estimated lead time on the microMatteBox is 2 weeks and dropping. I'd say just place the order for both and you should be good.

Akube - thanks for the feedback :)

Cheers

Brian,

Just checked the order page, and there it states 40 business days lead time - which translates to 8 human weeks. Could you confirm which estimate is right?

Do you have any plans for a 1.2 ND filter - especially since I see that you are now offering an IR cut filter?

Hi Martin

Thanks for asking - current lead time is a little less than 2 weeks. We have lead times in a couple different places so we need to update that one.

We are considering a 4 stop ND filter, in particular for the DSLR bundles.

Cheers

Brian

Yes - just to be clear it's 2 weeks lead time for new orders. Previous orders were much longer lead time

Hi Brian,

I'm really happy with redrock as well.

Are there any plans to make a mount on the back to hold a circular polariser? I think it would be a great addition.
