  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy - Inovativ Carts!!

Ordered a 42" Scout and first quote for shipping was $600 for FedEx freight. (Yikes!!) Would be a hard sell with Production when traveling. Patrick of Inovativ is being kind enough to get competing quote from other shipper. Waiting to see other number.

Main purpose of this cart for me is to have something that travels easily.... if I have to sacrifice the real estate of the 42 and go smaller with 37 in order to use a cart set up for myself in distant locations, I will probably downsize.

It seems the 42 is much more expensive to ship, beyond what the proportional volume increase would indicate... Anybody have any experience with shipping one size vs the other? How are others in the GB faring with shipping cost for 42"?

Thanks for any feedback.

I went for the 37 for exactly this reason, It's right on the cusp of the weight limit as standard baggage for most airlines, and the inclusion of the case and any accessories may push it over, but it's close enough that I think I can convince the agent to check it and not pay overweight charges. On shoots with any kind of lead time I prefer to ship LTL via local shipper and a pallet of lights, grip gear, etc. generally runs less than a thousand to the east coast from CA, so 600 for the cart does sound a bit high. If you don't have the luxury of LTL shipment and travel a good deal, the 37 is probably a better choice.

Yea, that's why it was stated in the thread that anything bigger than the Scout 37 would need to be shipped freight, because of the weight/size. The 37" is the travel friendly cart, so if you do a lot of that, I'd def'n downsize. The 37" is a great size too, not too small, yet not too big either.

Copy that, Stephen and Chris. Didn't realize that the GB change to freight for this size was more than an incremental move toward economical option. Thought at 25% more volume, the 42 would be roughly 25% more to ship.... but apparently, the size difference to 42" pushes transport to a whole new multiple/ tier. Will probably downsize, thanks for info.

On the plus side, my current 24 X 48 does not become a giant paperweight or planter :-).

It's about 430.00 shipping for my order, which is a 42" Scout AND a 48" Ranger. So really the cost of one pallet, not too much difference if it has one thing or more than one I suppose.

I can't imagine flying a cart for a job these days. Years ago I would take a Kartmaster everywhere. Brilliant cart that folds small and is only about 45lbs.

i've definitely been on jobs flying the scout 37 many times. it holds up fairly well but the hinges bend kinda easily. You can fix it with a plier tho. i suppose the new evo version with the magnet should be better for that because it ensures it closes properlly.

Yea, the new latches are great. If you get the case, might also help protect them as well.

Can you post a picture of the bent hinges! Is it something that the magnets will mitigate?

I'm guessing it's from latches not being "flat" to the cart body during transport. Now they have magnets which affix them flat, so theoretically, that shouldn't be an issue anymore.

Great thanks Chris!

Why people keep contacting Inovativ's distributors trying to get discounts/price matches is still baffling to me. Seriously? People are continuing to do this? You ruin it for everyone this way. People just insist on making the world a bad place. Trying to do damage control now.

I don't get it Chris, this couldn't have been easier. I sent an email, Patrick wrote back right away with and invoice, I paid him. Done.

I'd be stunned to find out it was a long term RedUser who did this.

Thanks again for setting this up,

Steve

Chris I never got an email back from Inovativ when I sent in what I wanted...

Edit: Nvm, just got an email back from Patrick. Good to go

Just curious how everybody configured their cart. I got a scout 37 with the steadicam kit, umbrella kit, and the 5/8 post kit. I wanted so many more accessories but it all adds up pretty quickly.
What did everyone find important to have ?
