  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Getting by with a little help from our friends..... (RED Dealers and 3rd Parties)

Don't worry about our Berlin peeps there is something new brewing there that I can't talk about yet :)

Awesome, so happy to hear! Thanks Jarred! Exciting! :)

Now that you're embracing 3rd party accessories, you guys should get on the horn with Metabones and see if they'll make a DSMC Speedbooster Mount...

...I'd buy that for a dollar.

The process of opening up to third parties has been terrific. FoolControl was a great first product and remains an indispensable tool. I am intrigued with the whole dealer thing. Is there a complete list of dealers somewhere? I see a few under LOCATIONS on the RED site but I'm not sure if that is up to date.

Specific Q for Jarred: Will there be an SF Bay Area store?

Thanks for all you guys do!

Hi Terry - ASG (Advanced Systems Group) in Emeryville is an Authorized Dealer.

Would it be crazy to think that Red may manufacture cameras outside of the USA someday? Maybe just an 8k upgrade line? So many possibilities...

Maybe Arris factories have been remade into Red factories

I just got an email that I have a new Bomb Squad in UK. Not good news. I have again to deal with currency-changes, and, and...

FWIW, the UK team team is great and REL can fully invoice and receive euro payments...

The dealer I am buying from (innocinema.com in Atlanta) charges the same for Red products as the Red Store. Actually buying something might be a good move before writing a post based on experiences with other company dealerships. :)
You miss the point that dealers have to make a $ from customers.
I didn't say that prices between online and resellers were different, but they should/could be to reflect the two different experiences.
If my premise is incorrect and re-sellers don't make a commission on Red cameras then that would be something:)

As Jarred says, the guy/girl you speak to is still being paid- the building, insurance, etc... Whether it's RED or the reseller paying the bill. You could say that a reseller needs to make $ whereas RED makes their money on the camera, but the resellers also have efficiencies of scale (reselling lots of non-RED products), so it's '6 of one and half a dozen of the other'. Decent resellers definitely earn their keep :)

Exactly. As much as people hate the idea of a middleman, if we open up a store in your town, that store and staff costs more money than if we didn't and essentially it becomes a middleman, even if they are all wearing RED Tshirts.

At the end of the day, you pay for it either way.

I know companies don't normally talk about this kind of thing, but it seems like an important discussion to have.

I am getting my Scarlet-W soon from Omega Broadcast in Austin TX, super pumped. I filled out sales tax exempt form myself, took 60 seconds and was accepted by the dealer without a problem, they actually gave me good advice on what to enter into the fields.

It all happened when I got a call from a Red rep who noticed my SW bundle order in the queue and that I lived in Texas. He set me up on a phone call with the GM of the dealer and I jumped on. I was way late in the game, Red saw an opportunity for me to get my bundle much sooner from a dealer down the street. It was fantastic customer service that I didn't see coming, though maybe I should have.

Its been said a million times on this forum but I'll say it again. This is why I decided to invest in Red. First time Red owner, patiently waiting for my Scarlet-W Bundle and completely over the moon about it.

Thanks Jared and crew.

Awesome Andrew, welcome to the family :)
