  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Getting by with a little help from our friends..... (RED Dealers and 3rd Parties)

Resellers probably have a minimum order amount they need to make per year. Knowing that you will sell at least x amount of product helps Red balance costs and production. It also makes it possible to sell at a discount to distributers. So the price will remain the same for online orders.
And if you do really want the reseller's price, you can become a reseller! ;)
 
The process of opening up to third parties has been terrific. FoolControl was a great first product and remains an indispensable tool. I am intrigued with the whole dealer thing. Is there a complete list of dealers somewhere? I see a few under LOCATIONS on the RED site but I'm not sure if that is up to date.

Specific Q for Jarred: Will there be an SF Bay Area store?

i feel lucky live in LA and can walk into the store, do some tests, ask some questions, one of the main things that drew me into investing.
i did this last week with downloading fool control for the first time, i cant wait until nab so i can see and try to understand what this omod and latitude is all about, do each of them need each of each other, or do they work stand alone? still confused but once you see it in person i think that changes.
 
Just please don't open a dealership in Texas. I am enjoying buying without sales tax.

they each can work on their own... but they also can all be combined with some interesting features, and this is just getting started...

OMOD + latitude battery powered + foolcontrol
OMOD + RTmotion hand unit
foolcontrol + latitude and RTMotors
foolcontrol + OMOD
etc

we will all be there at NAB ready to answer your questions :-)

Hey Michael, you need to remember it still costs money to sell things... Doesn't matter if it is RED or if it is a dealer. That person on the other side of the counter or the phone or the computer that you are buying from earns a paycheck either way.

For places like Germany that has had such a substantial increase in RED dealers, it makes us having dedicated offices redundant. So, please note that all of our German dealers and direct customers will now be supported out of our REL location.

Hopefully this wider reach will make being a RED customer just that much better.

Jarred, good man! do i get this right?

Your RED Team Berlin: Kristin, Jana, Henry & friends are Support Super Rockstars! I can hardly imagine my user experience without any one of them, i am sure - truly remarkable on many occasions.
Growing out the reseller network is good news as well - congrats on that! ... removing the souls in the dedicated office, as i read it, is heart breaking news.

i think, i am not alone in good old Berlin and Germany saying: We love having our team at RED in Berlin!

Absolutely, PLEASE Jarred, reconsider that decision. Not only are the guys in Berlin rockstars from outer space, after all this is the country of ARRI, you need to have an office here :-)
 
This is great news, wish I could have been at the event mark threw!!! for my part I have to give credit to UK DIT Joe Steel for hooking me up with Mikael and to follow that chain of thought also to DoP Florian Hoffmeister for introducing me to JOE, and Chivo for hooking me up with Karen Gretchel while on Birdman who hooked me up with Julie Anderson The PM that got me on Mortdecai which is the job that Jarred visited me on. So many people you can develop relationships with along the way, my favorite part of this business. The reality for me is that Jarred hooked me up with Chivo in the first place, so it all comes back full circle really which is very great i think. life is good in the RED World, we love our Weapons and all of this 3rd Party building will really continue to help us get our cameras out there to create great content. Thank you.

I just got an email that I have a new Bomb Squad in UK. Not good news. I have again to deal with currency-changes, and, and...

Would it be crazy to think that Red may manufacture cameras outside of the USA someday? Maybe just an 8k upgrade line? So many possibilities...
