  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

If that is the thunderbolt, plug into any computer, mac or PC module I am thinking it might be, then I will be a happy dude.

I've stated here for a long time that a small box that incorporates REDrocket, possibly dual backup and Prores/DNXencoding would make many people very happy and solve problems. If it is OS independent that would be even more versatile.

RED POSTBOX maybe?
 
That looks like a nicely rehoused trashcan with a rocketX and minimag reader built in, no?
 
Hashtags suggest it's a mobile Red Rocket and it resembles an under slung grenade launcher.

At first I thought the metallic fin looking thing on top was a rack mounting ear, but it doesn't really appear to run the length of the thing and the unit doesn't seem to resemble any standard rack size. If it is indeed similar to a rifle mounted grenade launcher it might be 1/2 x 1 rack units? It is impossible to tell without any size reference in frame.

A sideways Mac Pro with attached slots for reading redmags?

I would like it to be a box of power to plug into my Macbook Pro so that I could edit and color grade on it without needing a big desktop, but looking at this I cannot see it any other way than it being super expensive.
I put everything I own (almost literally) into my Dragon so this would never be something I can use I'm afraid.

This is confusing to me because
The fan on the side of the "RED DIGITAL CINEMA" the inscribed.
And, on the side of the skull image engraved.
Is not there anything?

this is an old post post of a rehoused mac pro as designed by jim. Maybe they have evolved that design into a new product.

Who knows?
 
I hope this is RED's answer to making a more robust accelerator that will work harder and last longer than the Rocket cards, which have had their issues. Something sexier, faster, more portable and ruggedized would be most welcome.
 
Doubt its Mac based considering the hashtag #nvidia was attached.
 
I want it to be RED's first real POST appliance.

What I mean is

1. Portable
2. Backs up data
3. Creates proxy media
4. Runs on battery or AC
5. plugs into any computer or laptop.

Sort of like redecorate, redraw and a data backup station in one box.

Long overdue

Wouldn't that be sweet?!

It would of course, work as both an an accelerator when connected to a laptop or workstation and as a stand alone offload and dupe station. Is there a small LCD on this thing somewhere? :-)

There is a pipe dream I can get behind. ;-)

Yes, this is curious. Might Apple be ready to announce nvidia GPUs or, it just borrows the circular design of the Mac Pro and is either PC-based or just an add-on enclosure? Personally, I hope it isn't a PC.
