btw..I tried the app @ IBC and it was great, to my surprise the remote focus was actually usable!
It just jumped sometimes due to the interference of many wifi networks.

Yeah, I wish there were a App to Camera wired option as well. Is that even possible? Perhaps in the Surface or Android world?

Actually iOS supports wired network connections just fine. Here's how you would do it.

iOS Device <--> Lightning to USB Camera Adapter <--> Powered USB Hub <--> USB Ethernet Adapter <--> Mini Router <--> LEMO-TO-CAT5E ETHERNET CABLE <--> DSMC Camera

You can do Lemo GIG-E to a wifi GIG-E router then connect the phone to that wifi.

Serial cable exists but Apple won't let me put the app on the App Store if we use it, only for enterprise / internal apps...

Serial cable exists but Apple won't let me put the app on the App Store if we use it, only for enterprise / internal apps...

I'm back in Paris for two days I'll spend with my wife and kids as I have been behind my computer pretty much all summer cooking this new app and then will be at Photokina and Cinec in Germany to show the app on RED booth from friday till next tuesday.

After that I will find the time to kill a few minor bugs and push it to the App Store.
I will also work on several short videos to show the app's main features like focus control, fine curve and look shaping, easy scene and metadata ingest, presets etc

I am trying to price it as low as possible so everyone could afford it but need to make sure I still have enough left after Apple and State taxes to keep working on updates and new camera FW features down the road. All I can say for now is that it will much more than 9.99 and much less than 299.99

Will work fine on iOS 8, tested all summer on betas but discovered little things I need to fix on iOS GM but will make it work just the same.

Any shipping updates for those of us that beat the clock and signed up for Hotlink? Just curious. I didn't get a tracking number or any other way to check order status, or shipping details.

The way my week has gone so far, anything between 9.99 and 299.99 will be a blessing... AKA tax time extension deadline..

Haven't found or heard of any GIG-E router powered on camera or battery... yet

foolcontrol iOS has been tested with 3 good solutions all with different way to connect to the camera :

- OFFHOLLYWOODNY HOTLink and HOTBox R/S (small, ideal for any serious film camera setup with or without battery on the back)
- RED REDLink bridge (no cables, wifi + RF)
- RED LEMO GIG-E cable plugged into a local network with wifi (for underwater to surface, multi device control and other extremely cool rigs)

Serial support will only be for special cases as it cannot be distributed thru App Store. In the future it shall also work with some other gear from people who showed interest at IBC (timecode syncing, wireless video...) and Mark's next secret NAB'15 modules... Rumour has it that he could even tweet about it a few days before that event...

HOTLink will ship the week of october 6 according to Mark's plan.
And according to my plans foolcontrol iOS app should be on App Store that same week (with a small unknown variable to deal with aka Apple validation delay)
