  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FLUT Science...

No question about it. But some of you are here also. What's your excuse?

Jim
Just came in to warm and thought i would check Reduser. Been waiting outside for Santa... with a shotgun.... reindeer bar-b-que.... mmmmmmmh..... good. Didn't come by this year. Maybe next. One of these days. That wascawy ol' fat man! Heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh

What an amazing thing the paradox of happenstance really is, how events so obviously not interconnected end up changing the course of defined paths of history as we know it. If it hadn't been for some dude who started selling modified bike handles out of the trunk of his car in California back in the 80's, the world would have never had one of its most distinguishable brands in Oakley, and then of course, it would have never seen RED. Would those up and coming executives at the big kieratsu at Sony, Matsushita and Canon who went on to become the decision makers that rule the digital future for those companies today believe that the dude selling those handles, who incidentally had a passion for photography, would end up being the one whose ideas would so impact the very industry they had been, until then, successfully shaping at their own leisurely, uncreative and stagnant will?

Chillax Jim, I know it must be burning you to have all this goodness and not being able to unleash it, but remind yourself that at least you have it almost ready, and quite right, who cares about the competition? The minute we try and shape our future by the decisions of others, it stops being our future, so I say, f...k them and their AVCHD cameras and stay on track. I think I will have to bite the bullet and buy plane tickets and fly to LA for this RED day...

At least no one can accuse us of not being passionate... (a more elegant term for nuts)

Jim

I don't think anyone has ever accused you of not being passionate Jim. But we would have given you Christmas off.

Great news all around. Wish I could be there in February but will probably have to wait until NAB.

I have been on email all today and tonight with Jarred, Graeme, Deanan, and Rob working on color science stuff. We are hooked on this program. We are nuts. No question about it. But some of you are here also. What's your excuse?

Jim

Jim,

I love threads like this.
It's just great to see that there are real people working at Red, passionate, vulnerable and yes, nuts. ;)

I'm so damn excited to start shooting with all the new tools you are creating for us.
:cheers2:

I don't think there has ever been in the history of business a situation like this where the founder of a company has been so open with his customers. Think about it for a minute and tell me when you have ever seen something like this. There have been times when Jim has been online here at 2am in the morning posting. Steve Jobs doesn't do this and neither does whoever is running Sony. It isn't like Red is making toothpicks or something. I think history will show that this is something incredible.

It's only 12:23am...

Jim

I'll bet our competition thinks we are nuts... :-)

Jim

We are nuts. No question about it. But some of you are here also. What's your excuse?

Jim

If I could sum up you and the rest of the Red Team to one person, this person would be Nikola Tesla of our era. He was also considered nuts by his competitors who were also rendered obsolete by his work.

So, there 's my excuse.

REDcolor + REDgamma sounds promising. My hope is that this combo does not clip the highlights like the REDspace + REDspace combo (I do love the look, but I find that I have to process using REDspace + Rec709 in order to hold onto the highlights).

This is exciting news.:)

Good call... REDcolor and REDgamma do NOT clip the highlights (as REDspace has a tendency to do). One of the big advantages. Everything we are doing is designed to use the full range available in RAW... and look good.

Perfect. That's just what I was hoping for.

Yesterday I read something I liked in Internet:
"Teamwork allows ordinary people to accomplish the extraordinary."

With RED Team this saying should be:
"Teamwork allows extraordinary people to accomplish miracles"

Thanks Jim and RED Team for every thing you have made possible to us.

Jim, a question;

So M-X is estimated to be 1.5 - 2 stops more sensitive. With the new color science, do you think you'll start to throw around different 'effective' sensitivity numbers?

Amazing news from RED Headquarters!!!

FLUT Science is coming soon for download (probably around LA RED DAY in February).

Also F in FLUT could be for Flexible as I wished before...!!!???

Very soon M-X upgrade of all R1 would be the best next announcement from RED!!???

To build Epic and Scarlet that both have a such innovative and complex design is very difficult task that needs more time and also a lot of money.

We are patient and have enough time to wait.

If cash is a problem than can be maybe fast and easy collected from R1 M-X upgrade.

Wish you all a merry Christmas and good health in the coming year!!
