  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Expectations...

No, you're not bad at all. A week until Scarlet. We're all a little wound up. I actually still like 2/3 sensor size but ONE WEEK TO GO!

I gladly accept constructive criticism when it's on point, as your statement was this time (mostly). And, speaking of reading before posting, I already admitted to being a jerk and missing the S35@3K discussion. See, I'm not so bad.

Has it been confirmed what Alchemy is? I noted the thread has been closed, so if it's "lid on"...

But I was starting to think noise management. A custom made REDCode RAW reduce noise slider would be awesome. I'll let myself be pleasantly surprised by Scarlet low light performance, but an on the fly noise slider in RCP-X would be truly cool.

RED: if it's not on the table already, tell Graeme to look into it!! =)

There's already a "denoise" slider in REDCINE-X. Alchemy looks to me to be some sort of local contrast adjustment, but I could be wrong.

Dont care if Scarlets 720i if its moduler + upgradable she's mine...... adapt and survive

If you're not using a rocket, it does...

Negative to both.

No Rocket, no apparent effect.

I'm using Mark P's Pillow Fight Epic clip at 100%, full resolution. I don't see any change on either Sharpen or Denoise.

The clip is in good shape to begin with, but there's still a bit of noise in the background that I expect to be able to smooth out, or sharpen respectively.

With these kind of sliders I like the right most extreme position to really destroy the image. This way you can go from no effect to too much.

Are you of the opinion that it works by gently manipulating the image, or does something stink here?

What follows is what I know to be true.

Come Nov 3 rd Red will be releasing the third edition to a line of cameras that's have revolutionized the industry. There has been much speculation on sensor spec, price even the weight of the unit has been subject to scrutiny. However when all is said and done, Jim, Jarred and the Red Team will announce Scarlet, a camera that will fill a purpose for so many and deliver imagery unmatched by anything else in its price range. It will be a camera that will be a stepping stone for some, the holygrail for others and of no interest to a few.

No matter what format it is delivered, Scarlet will be an amazing product, after all it is a RED, and when the dust settles the industry will be the better for having it, we will be thrilled and impressed and it will take its rightful place with its two older brothers, fitting and exceeding the purpose for which it was designed. It will be a camera I will be proud to own and shoot. It's a RED surely that's enough....

Is this some kind of weird mantra? I`m seeing stuff like this all over this forum (I`m closely following Red since that days long before Red One existed...) and I am still clueless why grown up people write these monologues that lack any substance or information.

Mariano: then you haven't been "following" closely enough: there is a lot of "substance and information" available on this site that puts John's remarks well inside the realm of "more than likely true". But take heart, you will only have to remain "clueless" for a few days more.

I'm going to presume your genuinely interested in a response Mariano and not just being a wanker,

It is because RED communicates to people through artistic potential, not just their wallets. They strive to be elite and offer up the most cutting edge products, yet they are not elitist in their philosophy and pricing. This captures people hearts as well as their minds Mariano - and so people express as such. This approach is also forcing positive change amongst other companies, and that is another huge service to even the fans/customers of other companies and all future artists as well. So what you are seeing is simply people expressing their version of "Hey RED, I get what your doing, and I really appreciate it."
Very simple to understand and logical no?

Some people get confused by it, as they just see/presume RED is just another typical company. And I would thoroughly agree that it makes no sense to have slavish loyalty to a company whose number one priority is clearly to serve it's share holders. Some will still attach to any brands and products they use, because they serve as an ego/identity enhancement. This is madness in any form. But RED is an Atypical company. And it makes complete sense to have loyalty and appreciation for a company that is the forerunner in actually giving a shit about you and your needs. So it's no great mystery when people express as such.

Hope that helps.

Looking forward to reading your mantra one day :patriot:

Well explained.

Basically its clear that Red's priority is us, and naturally some feel the need to reciprocate that. Kinda of hard to feel its "Just" a company when they function more like a subculture, family, mafia (lol).

Some will never get "it" and that tends to be reflected in their work....and words.

Oh! You could not say it better. Right on the nose. Very, very weird indeed. Now wait until the Scarlet comes out. It will get even weirder. Specs, size, cost. You will have people going nuts on all sides of the debate. Some people will be elated and transformed others will feel so much pain and disappointment that it will be almost impossible to go back to a normal and productive life. I suppose having to wait so long for the affordable and magical instrument that will bring stardom as a filmmaker has taken its toll on so many. I have been here since the very first announcement that the birth of the Scarlet would be eminent sometime soon. I even forgot already what year of what decade that was. Now we have just gone fast forward and finally the day is arriving. I just hope that meds will be readily available for those that will go into reality shock.
