  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC-X at IBC...

Ok, so 2nd post on reduser.net, total noob. Really interesting reading and some great insights, especially if you read this thread from the beginning. Simple question for you knowledgeable chaps and ladies... Should I buy a RED ONE now or Wait for the EPIC?

BUY IT! Then start learning it and renting it, and you will get a trade up deal being an RedOne owner. I would not break the bank on accessories ;)

Best,
Rich

Thanks Rich and Chris. Sweet truck Rich!

hey

RED has to be careful because for professional filmmaker the main advantage from using red one its not only its price but also the worflow...

IF ARRI came with a better workflow, similar to what RED has now, professional filmmakers will turn to ARRI

SO i hope that RED will make a real good product so i can continue using it...

what i mostly want to evolve from de R1 is de compression... EVEN if i have to change to 24, 25 our30 FPS at 5k it would be nice to have a REAL uncompressed RAW image.(none of the cameras mostly used nowadays (RED, D-21 our F35) do that

By making this RED will certainly win the market, even the ones that today don't believe in RED

PLEASE, start delivering our new cameras as soon as you thing that it is ready, because i realy wanna continue to work with RED Cameras but the image quality of R1 is from a few years Tecnology and Productions houses and clients are waiting for more

Best regards

João, it's interesting you say that it's the REDCODE compression that gives you the nice workflow and the recording to CF cards etc.

Here is a top down view of Epic vs. R1 to answer some of your sizing questions.. on the Epic there is a Redmote attached that obviously can be removed.

The size of the brain and modules make a strong case for never or hardly ever leaving the camera/modules unattended. But at the same time, it could provide theft opportunities for those so inclined. With the interchangeable modules across cameras, I wonder if the bonehead demographics will see this as opportunity to complete their kit?
