Since I'm now transitioning most of my high speed still photography over to Leica (M9), it's time to finally say goodbye to my beloved 28mm f1.4 Nikkor.
This has been one of my all time favorite lenses. Pin sharp and great contrast at f1.4 (better than the Zeiss 25mm superspeed or Canon 24mm 1.4) and extremely well corrected because of it's ground (not molded) aspheric element. These lenses were discontinued in 2001 and have since doubled or more in value in the used market. They often fetch $4000+ on ebay, they really are that good.
This one is special because I had it tuned by Nikon to focus to infinity on a digital sensor. Originally they focused a little shallow which was still within the tolerance of film (Master Primes are the same way). Consequently you use the IR mark for focus distance measurement, instead of the main witness mark. This lens will be extraordinary on the FF Epic!
The only blemish with this lens is the A/M collar (see photo below). This was the only design flaw by Nikon, it's plastic and breaks easily, I replaced it two times before it broke a third and finally decided to tape it with a little gaffers tape. It's worked perfect ever since. If you prefer to have the collar replaced I'll have it repaired before delivery but it will take 2+ weeks and cost an extra $250.
Optics and mechanics are perfect, cosmetically it's a beauty, no scratches or paint scuffs.
I'm asking $3250 ($3500 with new A/M collar) for this lens which is what I think is a fair market price.
You pay shipping or local LA pickup.
