That last one isn't fairI couldn't care less about the lens, camera, or exposure. Simply beautiful. Keep em coming Gunleik!
Any one have any views about Canon FD glass particularly the faster L and S.C.C lenses. Im interested to see how they compare to K35 look and how mechanicaly good they are ie focus rotation, and breathing etc.
Some companies are offing EF mounts for the lenses so they are easier to mount. id also wonder if EF is possible is a PL fixed mount possible too.

I was shooting a series for Discovery Science on K35s, but switched to canon FD lenses midway through because of availability of the K35s. Unfortunately, we are shooting on AF-100s and GH2s, but these lenses have really peaked my interest. I have since tried them on a Scarlet and I was very pleased with their "look". I have yet to do any side by side testing, but my gut tells me Canon FD lenses share some DNA with the K35s. I'm betting its a similar relationship Zeiss Contax lenses have with Super Speeds. There is a good reason Optex chose to rehouse the FD 14mm/f2.8 and 135mm/f2 in order to complete a set of K35s. Of course, certain lenses are better than others, but for the most part all the FD lenses I've used have been fantastic! The 50mm 1.4 is only a hundred bucks on ebay and it really shines on the Scarlet. I even like the look of the "Nifty Fifty" (50mm 1.8 that costs about $25 these days). Basically, I'm shocked people aren't piecing together full sets of these lenses for their Scarlet/Epic. You could spend a few grand and have yourself a really nice set of 70's Canon glass that is fully manual and looks great. Shit, you could spend a few hundred if you didn't need fast glass and just wanted something to get going. They also made some pretty great zoom lenses like the 20-35/f2.8. Anyway, I'm pretty excited by the Canon FD lens series and look forward to doing more testing very soon. BTW, I'd stay away from the EF mount adapter and just go straight for the FD mount for Scarlet/Epic... its only $500 and works like a charm![]()
Canon FDs I have, including all of their good stuff. They will be part of S.A.L.T. III or IV which I am trying to organize on the East Coast. In fact, much of the old glass noted on this thread will be put through the test, including throwing these up on a projector and then a EPIC/Scarlet. Ed Mikva (sp??) has a FD to ES conversion kit that fits some FDs. I have tried to contact that guy in England and, after 6 months, have not received a reply. Since then, FD-specific mounts for the EPIC/Scarlet have come to the market.
SALT III will be old cinema lenses. SALT IV will be old still lenses. (And no, I am not part of the SALT I or II teams. I just want to show them how we do it East Coast style)
In addition to my lenses (Canon FDs, Lomos, Lomo speeds, Lomo Anas, Lomo zoom, Super Baltars, old Angie zoom, ols zeiss zoom, CZJ DDRS), so far volunteers have offered Contax Zeiss and I have acceess to a set of Zeiss standard speeds. Would be nice to add Kinoptiks, Schneider Cine-Xenon, vintage Cooke, K35, Kowa anas, SMC Takumars, and a few others.
I have rehoused FD 14mm. Flare profile is so radically different from the K35's that I'm convinced it's totally different engineering. I would need to test more FD lenses to confirm this. But as far as how the image resolves, the FD 14mm doesn't cut too bad with the K35's.
I just ordered quite a few FD lenses and an FD mount. Among the high quality lenses I also picked up two different 75-200 mm macro zooms... for about 15 dollars each. can not wait to get the mount to test these. want to collect a whole set of FD primes now I got the lenses marked red so if any one want to get rid of the onces missing Im interested:
