  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic & old glass

It was approved by RED. You can call or email mr Chad Koeller from RED team to confirm.

I'm the producer.

Great news. Glad to see you on reduser. Your mounts have had good reviews. Yours is about the same price as Optitek, but AFAIK, Jacek has not received RED approval.

While I have your attention, there are many examples of BNC mounted lenses. Note that these have a longer rear than BNCR-mounts, but are still the same flange focal distance. It appears that your BNCR mount for EPIC/Scarlet may accomodate these longer BNC-mount lenses. If so, that would open up even more old glass options. Have you test-fitted BNC lenses? Thanks

Hi

I did not test my BNCR mount with BNC lenses but some of them should fit. It is 35.8 mm deep in diameter of 68mm. That might be enough for some Cooke Speed Panchro or Super Baltars in BNC mount. Exactly measurment is essential.

I just received a Pentax 6x7 mount from Krzysztof, and I love it!

Not easy to mix blue and orange in a tasteful way these days... both of your above images do it so well

Thanks.

i think there really are a lot of non-issues with the Epic.

It is really that elegant. High or low sat. Blending of colors. It's all in there to get if you want it!
Just reach out, open your eyes and say:

Thank You Graeme (and Jim and all...)

Kowa Anamorphics

Kowa Anamorphics

Kowa Anamorphics, circa 80's.

Crazy to think these are about as small and light as super speeds.

I thought Kowa Anamorphics were lens that you put on real lenses or something (and made them finicky to work with).

Those images look sweet though. Glad to see this thread is still alive.

Mike,

Kowa did a short run of PL mount anamorphic lenses, not the projector lenses you'll see on youtube. They are pretty fast, and super lightweight. Compared to the Hawk C's which need rod support for just about every lens.

Cheers,

How much do they cost compared to, say, Lomo Anamorphics? Any chance we could pixel peep those .r3ds, Sean? The highlight roll off looks really good and I can't tell if it's the cam or the lenses or the combo (how much fill was used?)

IMPO: The CU of the girl is soft beyond "artistic" and the vertical lines of the building seems distorted.

On a lighter note: Is that Ryan Serhant?
