Eminem "Phenomenal" Music Video Teaser - Shot on Weapons and Master Anamorphics

Shot full frame 8K, no vignetting with the Canon 24mm L glass...

This bodes well for my Leica R set.

Thanks for for sharing and please don't let folks spoil the party. We don't want you having to F-bomb people every time you start a new thread! :)

stuff looks awesome.

I'm not upset and won't be dropping any F-bombs on people for asking a lazy question. It just amuses me that I expended more effort writing my response, even customizing the quote boxes, than the inquirer did in his lazy question. Apparently, getting the answer wasn't worth 2 seconds of effort and he preferred to just wait a half a day for the answers to be spoon fed to him.

It's a trend I see more and more where people nowadays feel they are entitled to things and have to put in zero effort on their end to get what they want. I'm not cut from that cloth. If you're passionate about this art and craft, you go after the knowledge you seek tenaciously. I guess he really ultimately didn't give a fuck, so I'm not honoring that and scaled my response accordingly.

There are rules people.

I have to agree on the entitled part. I do see that mindset out there sometimes. To do good work requires more than just talent. Work ethic and people skills are high on the list too. The first thing I did when I saw your post and watched the video was do a series of screen caps so I could study what you are doing with the lighting, composition, etc. For me that's part of the growth process. When we stop learning, or get lazy someone with more desire will run right past us. I feel like I have barely started the climb up the mountain and I've been working in this career for twenty years now. :-)

::RANT MODE ON::

This is the sort of situation I get constantly and today it just boggled me enough to respond... So I post this Eminem job here on the forum... Today I get a PM asking:

With the incorrect grammar and all, I thought about this for a minute and decided to respond with this:

I get this ALL of the time. It's uninspiring.

::RANT MODE OFF::

Rock on Chris. Sort of reminds me of this article 6 years ago from Josh Olson. http://www.villagevoice.com/news/i-will-not-read-your-fucking-script-6704899

Christopher,
Super Psyched to see you posting about anything you do, especially after the silliness that ensued in the wake of your post on the T Swizzle Bad Blood video. I must have watched that sucka 50 times. Think I will go watch it again....

Hey Chris, the preview video looks awesome. I know you have done a ton of music videos before but can you tell me what it is like working with eminem and talent of this caliber? I'm sure its nothing but professional of course. Wondering if maybe you had some funny stories or something?! I cant wait to see this!

Also for somebody who is entirely new, and about to purchase a Red for the first time and wants to buy in to the Red Weapon 8k as a first camera ( I know a big huge jump from where I am at now) What price are we expecting? I ask because I am just a little confused reading the chart on the Red website. Thanks again for sharing! =]

Used my 3 month trial just so I could watch it. Looks awesome man! Curious how much time you spend in the edit bay working with colorist on these projects. Loved how you all dirtied up the image to make it feel a little more raw. Care to share any insight into that? Also, what frame rate and compression did you utilize for capturing Eminem flying off motorcycle? That sequence looked sick.

Someone has downloaded and is hosting a copy of the video here:

Seems like it was double compressed in doing so, but for those of you not on Apple Music, try that link out.

I looked at the hosted link and thought it looked double compressed as well. So I paid the $1.99 and downloaded the video to see the work. And...it didn't' look any different. Time for an experiment. I went back and watched the Bad Blood video on VEVO/YouTube and it looks great. Went back to iTunes, bought it, downloaded it...and it looks...not great. Seems like it is super compressed. I paused on the title graphics part in the Bad Blood video, and stopped iTunes on roughly the same frame. Not even close. Made screen shots of the same frames in both the online version and the iTunes version. However, you end up with grey frames when you try the old "shift/command/3" screenshot in iTunes. Apparently Apple, in its infinite wisdom don't want us makin' no frames of iTunes videos. In any case...what gives? Anyone know? (yes my iTunes prefs are set to play back videos at the highest quality, in this case 1080...and I am watching both with my NMP with the D700 cards and a thunderbolt 27" monitor.) Thoughts?

I was suspecting the same thing. As far as this Apple Music thingy, I'm not digging 1 thing about it. You can't share the media (nice going apple, do you think that's going to STOP people from wanting to share videos in social media?), their compression is horrendous and it COSTS just to see it. All of those factors equals a predicted fail in my book. People will seek out the free version, with even shitty quality. Today we just took a big step backwards. No Bueno.
