Hi all. This is my first shoot with the Red Epic. DSLR background and I've never shot with Red cameras (or anything that expensive) before. I work at a posthouse so I've edited a bunch of it but not shot myself.

We were asked by a friend of ours, could we shoot with the Red Epic for his little project. We said "yes!" emphatically without having shot with it before. At all. So the night before we went out and did a little test shoot to figure out how different it was from our usual DSLR packages. Lots of snow here in Finland so we got a taste of it's weather resistance too. Workflow with vfx in After Effects also tested. Everything worked well, camera shot great footage (except 2k at 1600 iso was noisy but neatvideo cleaned it very well) and edited quite easily in Premiere cs5.5. One of our lights was flickering (risky business shooting at 300fps) so sorry about that. 5k was great!

Now that was fun! Good work for a test with new tools. Liked your shoulder rig...

That DP was a total trooper! It's hard to find a good shoulder mount, when it doubt, just forget about it all together. :)

You liked the rig too! Didn't even see your post until I finished my first. Love the shoulder mount too. You should see mine.

Thanks for the comments guys! Yeah, the "rig" was pretty awesome ;)

One of the things that really surprised me about the Epic was how easy it was to use.
