  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC2. Unified.

I'm not Brent, but I'm pretty certain if you are going from a Weapon class camera with your Forged body you keep the Forged body tyoe after the upgrade. Mine did some time ago. Just one plate will be different.

This is also what I was told... Phil, do you know if it comes with the VV PL mount when you upgrade?

It is a new camera, therefore has the same 2 year standard warranty.

Glad you asked. If you WEAPON woven or forged CF, those panels will NOT be replaced as part of update to DSMC2. You get to keep those badges of honor on your camera….
 
This is blah news. The math makes perfect sense actually. I think this has a lot to do with a price correction from all the “Easter eggs” and “golden tickets” we’ve accumulated over the years. All the low ball epic w’s, the weapons, monstro prices... the second hand market has been in a bit of turmoil due to the drastic price two people with the exact same camera could have paid.

Not mad or confused at all by this move. It irons out all those dirty confusing details from the past and paves way for an easier to understand future.

Truly feel for the few full price guys out there though... But you all are clearly getting taken care of. So all in all back to business as usual.

thanks. And just to be clear, the internals in my camera are no different than what everyone else would be upgrading to in DSMC2?

When you upgrade to monstro you can choose to upgrade either an EF or a PL mount to the VV version as part of the package.
 
That’s all great and good. I finally bought into RED in a big way, mainly because they seemed like they genuinely did their best for their customers. 6 payments into my camera and you cut the price by $25,000. I mean WTF.

haha I hope so as well. I am double majoring in Economics to make the most out of it. NYU is #1~2 in Film, #7 in Economics in the US :emote_popcorn:

Any chance we MG owners can keep ours, or is it because the DSMC2 material specifically is needed (for heat reasons)?

I do understand that it is not based on the dailz exchange rate, but it is still quite a bit more expensive in eurpe this way (a flight ticket and custums would probably be cheaper but of course also a bit of a hustle)

PS: I absolutly do love the way RED is going with upgrades, and keeping their mind on the actual products on the market to be understandable

I know there are other factors we have to take into consideration on pricing when shipping internationally, but since you pointed this out, I figured I would ask our finance team to move up our next scheduled exchange rate analysis. I hope to see initial numbers tomorrow.

If there is a meaningful adjustment, I will post back here… And a few other EU folks might owe you a whisky, ha.

I believe whatever mount you send with your camera when upgrading to MONSTRO, you get the VV version in return. So, if you send in S35 PL, you get VV PL version back. Same for Canon. Don't just automatically get PL.

You are not getting a new camera so whatever panels from your Mg that we can re-use, will be re-used.

I didn't know there was a difference in PL mounts. Can you interchangebly use S35 and VV PL on whatever body you choose?

Smart move. I'm sure the averaging starting salary for an econ major dwarfs that of the film grads.

Small tip for you: when it comes to getting jobs out in the real world, rankings and resumes don't count for nearly as much as recommendations. Take the time to get to know every single professor, alum, and student you can. That's where the real ROI lies.
