  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC v5.2.28 Release Build

probably the setting from red watchdog that won't allow you to write to SSD's

I may have misled. I think Watchdog is for mac? I'm on Windows. Reference to the mac was to point out that the file has changed from previous iterations.

I'm having a really, really hard time upgrading. It seems something is different like there being no mac OSX option. Not that I needed that because I'm on Windows. But I've made multiple attempts on multiple Dragons using multiple computers (all Windows 7 or 8 machines) to download and drag Force Upgrade folder onto the SSDs (both 1.8" and mini mags)

I hoped not to go through the support ticket procedure if anyone has any idea of the simple little thing that prevents me from upgrading. (When trying to do the upgrade via Dragon menu, it simply says "Upgrade Failed, Force Upgrade file not found."

This has happened previously but I persevered and finally something clicked and I was able to upgrade both cameras. This time I've persevered well into the night, last night, and most of this morning.

Help!

I hear you. And I see this issue on my Epic X as well. Do you have MINI SSDs or standard ones? I haven't been able to upgrade to the latest release. force_upgrade folder on MINI SSD but camera fails to recognize it, even when attempting to do a manual upgrade inside the menus.

Let me know if you get to the bottom of this.

If you take the contents of the force upgrade folder and put them on the SSD (without the force upgrade folder), you can upgrade via the menu in the camera.
a way of upgrading without, force upgrading.

David, tried that and just finished trying it again. Still says upgrade failed upgrade package not found.

Just did it again and didn't reformat the media this time and remounted the media on the computer and checked for the part dragged onto the media from the force upgrade folder. I could not find it. Somewhere during the drag and drop, the data seems to disappear.

When i try to upgrade the red mote through the camera, the camera powers down. Any ideas as to why?

Marcos, I've tried both the mini SSD and the 1.8" SSD and get the same result. I've tried Drag and Drop, copy and paste, read only option disabled, etc., etc., etc., etcera... no joy.

In keeping with Reduser members' policy of assuming a conspiracy theory, I THINK THIS IS A RED PLOT HATCHED AMONG HACKERS FROM THE KREMLIN TO DEFEAT AND CONQUER THE COUNTRY OF LICHTENSTEIN BY HOLDING RED FIRMWARE UPGRADES HOSTAGE!

Orrrrr... someone may have just left out a line of code when writing this firmware, that would have allowed upgrades to work as before.

Sorry-please disregard. Too early after celebrating Tin=mecode success and didn't correctly read your post.

That is SOP. See this from the upgrade instructions on RED.comThe upgrade automatically runs at power up.During upgrade, the fans run at high speed and the PWR and REC LEDs flash green. After approximately 15 seconds, the LEDs stop flashing and the camera powers down. Nothing displays on the external monitors during the upgrade.10. After the camera powers down, remove the SSD and wait 10 seconds.11. Power up the camera. The camera may take 30 seconds or longer to upgrade all the attached modules. During this time the PWR andREC LEDs flash green and nothing displays on the external monitors.12. Go to Menu > Settings > Maintenance > System Status > Camera Info and verify that the firmware version listed matches the firmware version that you downloaded.

Same Black shade calibration failure when at 1fps 1/1sec shutter as the beta build. Everything else is rock smooth though, happy to be out of beta and on a release build with DC/RG4.

did you secure format the media?
change your cable between the computer and the Mag Reader?

Try going in degrees and doing it at 360 degrees.

Finally a release! Will install this now! Thanks

Is it me, or with the goal post fixed, the camera seems a little cleaner? Just test rolled at 2000ISO, looked cleaner then it did before. Should of test rolled before the firmware upgrade.

Could be, you know. They are always tweaking. You gotta test every build. :)

For those of us not in the know, what were the goal post and exposure issues that needed fixing for DRAGON? Thanks!
