  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon upgrades

i dont want him to answer this question.it would saturate the used market so quickly.Even its not compatible with newer body for now sure they would come up something like bridge module in future.

All I can say is Thank you. If you can do that, for a lot of us that were on the fence, either upset at our own financial position, or for making some bad assumptions, that would be awesome! It's already done. Price will go back to $9500 on Monday and you guys can do your thing.

This is what family does... love and war and fist fights in the backyard but it all comes from a good place and usually ends up in a good place.

This thread is not the release of what weapon is and what it does and doesn't do, even though I probably am at fault for saying too much and making it that way...

But even if it was, threats don't really work with me. I accept conflict.. just package it differently... when it is time.
 
For those who object to the name because you think total strangers will look down upon you for carrying a weapon, here's how you spin it:

You tell them that yes, you once were a hunter (it's probably what they believe about you anyway, so humor them.) And as a hunter you saw this ad for "Weapon" and you bought it sight unseen. You were thoroughly disgusted that it was a camera at first but after spending that kind of money, decided to try it.

And after doing so, you put away your guns and bought more camera stuff and began shooting wildlife with a camera instead of a gun. Untold numbers of wildlife have been saved just because you bought a camera called weapon.

Probably some humans were saved as well because as you grow older, chances are you will develop cataracts and its plausible you could have been driving to hunt wildlife and with your failing eyesight may have turned down the lane that said "Bird Sanctuary" instead of the one further down the main road that said "Hunting Grounds." And with failing eyesight, you adapt to shooting anything that moves and very likely may have hit some bird watchers.

So hold your head and camera high because it (theoretically) has saved you from a term in prison for manslaughter. '-)

Just to be explicitly clear for peeps you are starting the Epic Mysterium-X to Dragon Upgrade at $9500 on Monday the 23rd and it the program ends NAB 2015 on April the 13th?

It's amazing you're doing this btw.

Lock and Load has worked well for me for Epic X and Dragon.

This is an extremely awesome response. Above and beyond.

Personally, I stepped off the upgrade cycle with my SCARLET MX (upgraded my EPIC to Dragon, though, so am Weapon-eligible through that pathway) - oddly, little Scarlet is now working a lot, because I'm able to offer it to low budget projects....since I paid it off long ago, it's no big deal to offer tiered pricing. It actually lets me work on projects which I would have otherwise passed on - I meet some of the most interesting people with my Scarlet MX....

Once the price increase kicked in, I stopped thinking about a Scarlet Dragon upgrade entirely. Now that the price is dropping again, I am going to resume playing this mental ping-pong game all over again.

.... my mind was so clear, so free! back on the hamster wheel!

What would be helpful to know, in trying to make this decision - will the Weapon upgrade be a trade-in or an entirely independent purchase? Will we lose our Epic Dragons to gain the Weapon? Or will the Weapon, since it is a body upgrade, be a separate-but-discounted purchase? or will there be separate price points and both options available?

In my perfect world, I'd be able to NOT upgrade SCARLET MX - that way all of my accessories stay current for the life of that camera, keep my Dragon, because I love it with all my heart and soul and still want to make movies with it, and then have the option to exercise the purchase of a Weapon when I can afford to do so - just keep both cams working towards its purchase, with existing accessories.

That would be my perfect world, but it's predicated upon being able to keep my Dragon, instead of trading it in.....

Thank you. Again, there's nothing else I can say other than I appreciate you listening, and your diligence with me/us. I'm budgeting now and trying to put the funds together as I type this. If I can't come up with it- then that's on me. No excuses anymore. Still, I hope this helps my fellow Reduser's...people like myself...the little guy.

Hey Jarred, is there a chance we could keep the SSD module (doesn't have to have the guts in it) from the Epic for sentimental reason? Would love to shadowbox it and put it up in my equipment room as a memory of all that camera has shot over it's life.

This is a bit different.. this is a small group of people that are hopefully going to get together and actively change the cost of what something costs us to upgrade/make. kind of like a group buy.

Those that played by the rules, the longer you have had the camera the more valuable the upgrade option becomes.. as your cameras is more "used" but you still get the benefit the same value for upgrade that people that just have had their camera for a month have had.

Kinda like having 200,000 miles on your car and trading it in and paying the same as the guy that trades in his car that only has 2000 miles. Maybe that is a bad analogy.
 
Jared you rock…period! Will keep bringing amazing footage with my red-epic till april, and then continue to do the same with the red dragon. I promise. :-)

To be clear, does this return to the $9,500 upgrade until NAB apply to every MX --> Dragon upgrade or just Epic MX --> Epic Dragon?

I imagine the generally less financially able Scarlet owners could use the extra help in affording the Dragon upgrade as much as Epic owners.

I think that the benefit is that you saved yourself 48 hours of stressing lol! You played by "the rules"...but rules weren't that clear. I, along with a lot of redusers, thought that we had more time. It's just a couple weeks (5 days in February, March and the first week or so of April) that really matter with the price decrease. After that, it's a more even playing field in terms of "you should've known better, you have no one to blame for waiting."

Again, this is more so for people that got their MX's in mid-14 and thought that they had more time to upgrade to Dragon. I already lost $3k by buying a Rocket last year (yes, I bought a Rocket in 2014...I'm still kicking myself for that :emote_headwall:).
