The difference between a bully and a coward is one well placed shot. Learned that in 1st Grade.

Really not sure which one you trying to be here Zeb. I am neither. And you are still avoiding to explain your sudden 180˚ attitude change and the hiding behind "Made In America" - which on its own is really sad, never mind all you attempted cheap shots and insults...
Time to move on...

FUD = Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt

DOUBT - I willingly admit to having huge DOUBTS about DJI's motivation in their price cut. And also DOUBT equally their claims that they have magically discovered a way to improve manufacturing so they can justify such a dramatic price cut. It is my opinion, based on this DOUBT, that they are simply seeking to turn the conversation away from their flailing about in managing the group buy. Thus, they are making a dramatic move in cutting price. Perhaps a smart move from a marketing perspective. I just DOUBT their explanation.

UNCERTAINTY - I am willing to state publicly that I am UNCERTAIN as to the wisdom, for the market or for DJI as a company, as to what this move will bring about in terms of the health of the market and the health of DJI itself. It has been said that they are a huge company. If so, then perhaps this product will be something of a loss leader with thin or non-existent margins. So be it. I can only express my UNCERTAINTY about such a decision.

FEAR - I have nothing to do with how others might react to this news (or any news), or my expressed opinions, about the Ronin, or about DJI as a company. Anyone reacting with FEAR, will have to own it for themselves.

So, sometimes FUD is a natural outgrowth of actual events. Take it for exactly what it is.http://www.pinterest.com/pin/create/extension/http://www.pinterest.com/pin/create/extension/

Yup. Time for you to move on and get some distance from the Mr. Integrity front. I wonder who would fair better in a full background check? Give it a go? I'm buying

Another Ronin Pro Support update.

As we are eagerly preparing for the shipment to the endusers, the pro support system is progressing greatly. In the meeting in china I'm attending, we plan to set up a pro support division that understands what is needed in a professional environment in GERMANY as well as LOS ANGELES.

The goal is to essentially have support staff on email supporting the endusers 24/7.
if you are local to the country, calling our staff at the office will indeed work as well. Phone number to be launched when the team finishes their training I'm 2 weeks.

This is a new era. A revolution for cinematography. A new support system is about to erupt. Thank you all for giving me this opportunity. Plane taking off now. I'll report back soon!

Question to Willis:

I believe, everybody is happy with the brand new price.

But I don't understand the politics of European Reseller. I have found different offers. From 2599 Euro to 2999. What is the official price of DJI in Euros?

kind regards

Norbert

If you want to use the ronin upside down but dont want to have the camera upsidevdown. Can you mount it the other way around. I can post a video from another gimbal if you dont know what i mean.

All the package contents originally posted has no changed, this includes the pelican style foamed case.

Willis,

This price drop is all great news. I've already placed my order through AMP. Is there anyway to order the longer XL arm and batteries? Also, the AMP invoice does not itemize what's included. How can I get an itemized invoice?

Thanks

Thank you Willis for keeping us in the loop about the Ronin.

I have a few of questions for you and the group in general.

Our main reason for purchasing the Ronin is to use it with our steadicam (Raven). I believe that combining the two would provide the smoothest shots possible. I know others are planing the same combination. I have not yet found any photos of this potential setup or footage shot by any “dual” system. It make me wonder if my logic is sound.
Assuming the steadicam is capable of the extra weight (Raven will support 55lbs)

#1 Is a dual stabilizer a logical idea?

#2 Has anyone seen the Ronin used with a steadicam? If so what is the logical way to connect the two?

#3 Is there anything that people (thinking about combining the two systems) should be aware of?

We hope to have this system functional for the upcoming football season. Approaching quickly.
Any thoughts?

Peter posted all pieces included...

As for the 10% group buy discount and free thumb controller..we really have no confirmation that it is still in place
from anyone at DJI or any reseller.
After all the retail price is now $1,000 below the old group buy price...so alot changed.

Speaking with various resellers they said they would lose money on the sales if they
took 10% less and would have to charge for shipping.

Unless anyone else states otherwise - the basic package is...:

Basic Package:

1 x Ronin Gimbal
1 x Ronin Intelligent Battery
1 x Ronin Battery Charger
1 x Dual mini 15mm modular rods (3-sections for each rod)
1 x Lens support base
1 x Remote Operator Controller 2.4ghz
1 x Camera Dovetail Plate
1 x Collapsable tuning / balancing stand (able to take top part off to mount on a baby pin)
2 x Top Bar Accessory Mounts
2 x 1/4" Camera Screws
2 x 3/8" Camera Screws
1 x Allen Wrench Set
1 x Accessories Pouch
1 x Custom Molded Pelican-Style Carrying Case with hard foam
1 x Power Breakout Box

$ 2.999,- USD - retail
$ 2.700,- USD - REDUSER GROUP BUY

I think it is also safe to assume that Willis will re-confirm the inclusion of the 1 x Thumb Control for the REDUSER GROUP BUY - but not sure whether this is included in the public release package...

I'll say upfront that I'm on the Helix GB, but I follow the Ronin developments closely. I wondering how stable the Ronin will be in a continuous inverted mode on a Steadicam. Unlike the Helix, most gimbals fly with the camera hanging below the rig, so it may not be optimal to use on a Steadicam in reverse. Time will tell I guess....

There is a video, for those who have not seen it that contains (a short way in) footage of Larry McConkey using a Movi on his Steadicam Ultra2. Do a search for Larry McConkey uses Movi on Steadicam and you will find it. Larry is one of the best if not the Best Steadicam operator in the world. A true living legend. In the video he is using it in dual operator mode. He moves the Steadicam and the other operator is using a set of remote geared wheels that are slaved to the RC controller. I repeat, Larry may be the very best Steadicam operator in the world and has spent many, many years refining his skills. The other operator as well is fluent in operating a remote head with geared wheels. Neither is a walk in the park and it required close communication between the two. Two brains equals more hassle and more time needed learning it. Using a 3 axis gimbal in follow mode on a Steadicam is, in my opinion, not acceptable. if myself or someone else does not have full control over placement of the lens for the shot, you are half-assing it. I have done Steadicam for NFL Films long ago so i would not recommend this combination for football without lots and lots of practice and a reliable communication system between the two operators and a great long range wireless video system. My two cents from 20 plus years as a feature film and television Steadicam op with Academy Award winning film credits.

#1 Is a dual stabilizer a logical idea?

Yes - I have explained this in great details why using the two complimentary systems does make sense on my review thread...:

Nope. Myself and Ketch have had the first two beta units in the world for only just a little over 3 weeks now (but there are many more in the hands of the various dealers and for demo purposes on the various trade-shows).
Not sure what Ketch is planing in terms of testing the Ronin on a Steadicam, but I am myself (with 7 years of Steadicam experience) working as we speak on a neat solution for using the Ronin on a Steadicam - both with a sled and directly without a sled.
I will post details, pics and vides as soon as I possible can - but it will take at least 2 more weeks before I can start shooting. Patience please...

#3 Is there anything that people (thinking about combining the two systems) should be aware of?

There are several issues - but diving into them will require a dedicated thread - which I intend to open in relation to my above testing...

Peter,

As you know I never used a Steady not would I be allow to medically...

But since I have been asked so many times I promised to do it...

However if you do it, then will make more sense, since you are both a Beta tester of the Ronin and operate, instead of me doing this with a given Operator that has no knowledge of the Ronin...

Then I suggest for you to post a link on my thread as soon as you have it done, this way those interested in the Steady option, can go to your thread and read and interact about it and get proper answers on the Ronin/Steady combo.

No worries Ketch - lets spread the workload. You please take advantage of what surrounds you and I don't have here - gorgeous girls and amazing Euro architecture and those coastlines... ;o)

Sounds good, I also have the XL arms to put to work... So I'll leave the Steady stuff to you and will direct any one in my thread to yours...
