DJI RONIN Group Buy

PS: Zeb has no one else to blame but himself for this GB going south. And it is rather hypocritical to NOW hide behind "Made In America" new-found love. He knew perfectly well where Ronin was made when he initiated this group buy. Then jumped the ship once he realised he mishandled it in the most spectacular fashion and didn't get what he expected (and denied). He now takes a jab at Ronin wherever he gets the opportunity - which really speaks highly about his integrity. I will leave it at that...

I just received a reply from the French reseller.
For us, ciggies and baguettes lovers, new pricing including GB discount and 20% VAT is 2570€.
It's more expensive than some other countries but it's still a really good deal so for once, I won't complain.

I love the idea of these gimbals but I wish everyone would look at them with the same critical eye that directors look at Steadcam footage. I work as a Steadcam op. All of the little twitches and un-intended readjusts, in every video of demoing these gimbals has been utterly unusable.. Zeb, the footage of the helix you showed recently was unusable in whole. Maybe there where a few seconds you could cut out but really bad. In that thread you gave some kind of excuses, but you know that there are no excuses on a real job. You have to come home with the footage and complain about how hard it was later, but it has to be good footage. Even the footage from the ronin video wasn't perfect, You can still see pretty pronounced footsteps. As a Steadcam operator you learn foot work that allows you to not transfer that in to the footage. As well as there's a huge spring helping that out. even with a spring arm newbie Steadi ops fight to remove the footsteps. Like I said in the beginning of this small rant. I like the idea of these gimbals I can't see not purchasing one at 3000 bucks. They are great to do simple and specialty shots. But I truly believe this is going to be a kind of tool that requires a great operator to get perfect footage. One example. Do a half round around a person standing still at a 85mm and hold the portrait left or right justified in the frame. End with the person center frame. This is something I get asked to do a lot. I haven't seen a stitch of footage from any of these gimbals that show the promise of doing that. Again I love the idea of them. And the new possibilities they have. But in the end all I want is an auto leveling device I can pop on top of my sled. Then I can build a tiny sled that I control with my fingers left and right so it's not so twitchy . And up and down is head room don't get me started on the head room in everyone of the demo videos for these things. Haircuts or huge open spaces above heads is not acceptable. Don't get me wrong I want one. I just want to be good at operating one before I put footage on the internet of me using it.

Oh Peter you are funny being the forum tough guy for DJI. Like a dog in a car barking through the car window - harmless and amusing in your intensity to serve your new master from perceived threats.

Not sure what else I could do for DJI to directly produce more sales. Did you see that my video (produced at zero cost to DJI) is featured on the front page of NoFilmSchool? Up to 30K views now and a bunch of "Likes" which, no doubt, directly contributed to the 2000 pre-orders. That and me manning up to author this Group Buy way before you even knew there was a product called Ronin. That all got you your current job at DJI. Your welcome.

No RED User has been harmed by my efforts since I always represented their interests ahead of my own. In fact those who bought into this Group Buy are getting the best deal on the planet and first units. I represented RED Users, myself then somewhere in distant 3rd place DJI/AMP. How about you?

Question my integrity all you want while bullying fellow RED Users for "spreading FUD" about DJI any time they ask a penetrating question or disagree with your pronouncements. It shows you have lost your ability to have independent judgement and an unbiased opinion.

You make me giggle and my toes wiggle you silly guy :-)

I think you should both stop taking this matter personal, things are being said here from both of you are results of anger mostly, and are not true.

I dont thik that Zeb blamed or told people not to buy the Ronin, he just stated a fact about why companies in other countries than USA and Europe have the priveledge to lower prices and make the competition harder.

I also dont think that Peter has a job in DJ1 and he is making true statements and footage using the Ronin that he believes in it more as a product.

I also think and I will say it once more, that people should not create teams against each other backing up or blaming a product as this is NOT a football field and a deth game.

I think you are both doing a good job demoing the products you believe in, and think is most suited to your style.

please dont take this into a personal fight , and lets carry on in the only way it should be.

this is not a competition, this is products that people will buy to do what they do best judged on their personal style and needs.

you guys are here to just show them all the info that can make them decide whats best for them , and not to create a battle field.

Kind regards

Question remains: Peter somehow feels justified to question my integrity on a public forum. What is the basis of that? I have had no personal contact with Peter so he has received information from somewhere. As Peter likes to say: "Stop spreading FUD. What is the source of your information?"

Well Peter, what is the source of your information that causes you to publicly slander me?

Zeb - the joke is on you - hide all you want behind your LOL's. And I have given you plenty of advice about making assumptions. And for the n-th time - I do not "have a job" at DJI (since we are talking about spreading FUD...). DJI is not paying me for my review and testing, nor am I getting (or have demanded) a free unit to keep. There are dozens of videos out there getting their "hands-on" with the Ronin on various trade shows - ultimately what counts is the actual footage shot on the Ronin. I love your high-production-value photos of you with the Helix and the RED, yet all the footage I have seen shot on it so far is from every other camera, but the RED. And I will refrain from commenting on the quality of that footage...

But lets not change the subject. How do you explain your new-found love of "Made In America" - while you are the one that initiated this group buy knowing fully well where the Ronin was made? How is that not hypocritical?
And how do you explain the sudden and abrupt change in your attitude and comments on the Ronin where you started praising the product at the start of this thread (and in the video you like to mention so much) - and then suddenly "jumping ships" and from that point onwards your comments about the Ronin and DJI in general have turned 180˚...?

You can compare me to what ever animal you like. Enjoy your freedom of speech...
The reason I stand by DJI is because I do have integrity and values. None of my comments are "coloured" or "biased" in favour of DJI. I would have made (and have made) such a "defensive" comments for other brands as well - where appropriate...
Its funny how it is OK for you to "suddenly" make "fun" and borderline derogatory comments about a product and company that you tried to promote yourself not that long ago - and then call me biased...

What ever helps you sleep at night Zeb...

You mean the Global Discount from Digistore it's 2570 VAT include ?

Constantine, I agree pretty much with everything you have said except this first sentence. Not only there is not a single post of mine here that is not true, but further more I feel no anger towards Zeb. If anything its kind of sad to see people beehive like that. Ah well...
But I have certain values I personally believe in. I can't just sit by and watch someone do what Zeb keeps doing and not comment. I have not "initiated" any of these post regarding Zeb - they are all in response to his posts and behaviour...
I have said what I wanted to say and leave it at that.
Time to move on...

This forum is getting as ridiculous as the steadicam forum. It use to be nice here. Far away from all the people that just wanted to bicker.

Priceless. Good one Ryan...
What is missing in that pic is us - end users - sitting in the distance sipping our chilled beers knowing that this will ultimately benefit all of us...
I just hope that this "fight" can be conducted via proper evaluation of each system and direct show of their respective capabilities and ultimately the footage...
Not by smart-ass comments and/or tongue-in-cheek "innocent" questions...

:cheers2: Peter

OK - I am going to say it... Peter, you have become a real d#@k in this process. Your bouncy bounce footage from the Ronin is nothing to get excited about. All these products are evolving. Stop being Mr. know-it-all, I am above it kind of guy when you are taking swipe at others every chance you get.

I once did you a favor based on a personal plea. I see that I should not have bothered. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/create/extension/http://www.pinterest.com/pin/create/extension/

Thought so. You won't come clean with what DJI has said to you behind my back which you have made veiled references to in your new found role of Completely Uncompensated Defender of DJI's Honor and Integrity. If you have something specific that allows you to question my integrity in public then publish it here Mate. Otherwise shut your pie hole.

The difference between a bully and a coward is one well placed shot. Learned that in 1st Grade.

Greg - I have never accused you of not telling the truth as far as your statement goes. I was questing the truth of the statement you were quoting without citing the source at first. This was a perfect example of spreading FUD. This is in contrast with "creating" a FUD - which I have never accused of. The meaning of "spreading" already confirms that the FUD originated somewhere else. I just wanted to know from where - as this was not mentioned in your original post. And now we all know that the information in question was indeed a FUD. For your own sake let this one go...
