Ronin Product Introduction . . . LOL

Totally understandable Patrick...but your website goes through paypal so if we request a refund is there going
to be any paypal fee invoved or will we be refunded the entire amount.

There are no FEES when refunding the original transaction. If there were I would simply send you a check bud,

Patrick

Patrick: When I got the call today I was told that I'd be refunded the difference but would now be responsible for shipping charges of $349. That makes AMP $350 more than B&H. Is that correct?

We will do free UPS ground shipping in the USA. If your in Canada you will have to cover that actual cost.

Please stop spreading FUD...

Peter

Well Peter, since the info came directly from my dealer, it can hardly be considered FUD. Not sure why you needed to attack me over this.
Thanks Patrick for clarifying this matter. It would be nice if we were automatically issued refunds for the difference rather than having to ask...it has been 30 days since you accepted our full payments and we still don't have a delivery date. We are all anxious to receive our Ronin..I'm sure this price drop will result in significantly more sales.

This is one of those times where a price drop is surprisingly unwanted. I mean, it is, but...

Yesterday, all the time and effort I spent following this thread and calling in early and sending in my money immediately actually meant something. Now it doesn't. (Willis just said that we still get 10% off. Awesome!)

Yesterday, I was thinking I'd get my shipping notice any day. Now I think it won't be until early August. (Still a bummer)

Yesterday, we were part of a certain group and had extras headed our way, now twice as many people are going to buy these and we're just another one in the queue.

Saving the money is certainly nice, but it's a little bittersweet and it seems like it's all going to even out in the end.

None of this is AMP's fault, it's just another odd and mishandled choice in the long line of choices by DJI. It's good certainly but it would've made a lot more sense to handle it differently.

ALSO - I was told the exact same thing about my money being in DJI's hands and that it had been used to start the initial production run. That was from a female voice at AMP this morning and so there must have been at least 2 rogue voices spreading the misinformation. I don't care much either way but that does seem odd. Oh well.

Dear fellow Redusers,
As of July 16th, 2014, I'm sure you've all noticed that the price has decreased tremendously from $4,499 to $2,999. Apologies for the late notification on the forum, but I would like to thank each and every one of you for the support you've given DJI on giving the Ronin a successful launch. We do know that AMP did in fact took full payments from the Group Buyers, but as discussed, AMP, as well as other Group Buy Dealers will do the partial refunds accordingly.

I'm sure you're all wondering, "Why would you decrease the price???" I asked the same thing! Is there going to be a compensation in quality? Is it because we didn't sell enough? Fortunately, the answer to those questions are, no.

The quality will only get better, not only through hardware, but also through the ability to update the firmware.

The Ronin had an introduction at NAB 2014, we made a short film introducing its capabilities of holding 16 pounds of industry standard fully loaded Red Dragon setup on many different platforms all in one shot.

Zeb then started a Group Buy with the help of Patrick at Aerial Media Pros to do a Reduser Launch of the Ronin, which came out spectacular!

Ketch Rossi & Peter Majtan then joined our Beta Testing team delivering superior results. Can't thank you guys enough.

So, why? Why did the price diminish that much?
Well, we were originally expecting monthly orders of potentially 200, instead we got way over that worldwide, enough for us to turn down more pre-orders of the first month, and enough for DJI to manufacture the Ronins on a high quantity level, which ultimately resulted in much lower price of material.

Knowing and speaking to the Ronin Sales Manager as well as Paul Pan, the Product Manager behind the product, getting the Ronin in the hands of both industry professionals and indie amateurs shouldn't be a challenge, everybody should be able to afford the smooth shots of the 21st century.

The questions about the Group Buy, is it still worth the Group Buy? Absolutely! with a 10% discount on top of the massive price drop, that's a $299 discount. I'm not sure if the batteries will still be included in the Group Buy with Aerial Media Pros due to their lower margin, but I'll let Patrick handle that. 10% discount is still part of the deal though.

We are building our support team in LA, and will soon make our workshops public. The support email will be launched when our Ronin Pro Support techs come back from China in 2.5 weeks. Stay tuned for Pro Support launch!

I will be flying to our Headquarters in China tomorrow and be back in a week, I'll try my best to update here.

Thank you all for the continued support, if you have any questions that require immediate attention,
don't hesitate to email me: willis.chung (at) dji (dot) com

@Patrick: If you could please clarify. Does the price drop mean that any items were taken out of the original Ronin Package confirmed by Willis? Are we still getting the Ronin in the foam cut case, secondary operator controller, etc.?
Is the new $2999 price stay to the same package as it was before the price drop?

Another question, if we want an extra battery or two, can we order those from you before you send the Ronin to us? Or will you not have accessories in stock until later?

I also just want to say how confident I am in my choice of picking you as my dealer for the Ronin. I can really see the level of importance you and your staff put into making sure the customer is happy and I very much appreciate that!
Thanks for your time.

Greg - you really can't see how such an (false) information could have been damaging to the reputation of DJI? They are already faced with the stereotype where people associate products made in China to be of low quality. There are several companies in China with production quality and attention to detail that any "western" manufacturer would be proud of. DJI is one of them and has worked hard for this reputation. Foxcon - who make most of the Apple products is another. But that is irrelevant now...

The issue was "how" you have posted the original info. You have simply stated that "you were told" without specifying by whom. This is exactly how FUD spreads. If you have mentioned that it was AMP employee - I would have simply called upon Patrick to clarify it (which he already did on his own).
It is easy to make baseless accusations and cause intentionally or otherwise sometimes irreparable damage. I know - I was target of the same here on RU. I still live with the consequences of that.
Things posted online these days are simply taken as fact - most of the time without any verification.
So what is important is that when we post any such a information - that we do so while also providing the source and as much details as we can share - so such an information could be followed up on and clarified...

How would you feel if someone made comment like that about your company without giving any supporting info?
My tone was polite and I even used the word "please" in the request to stop spreading what has already being proven as FUD.
There was no "attack" and certainly not personal and I apologize if it make you feel that way. Words online are so easy to interpret in any way you want them to...

So as Patrick said - let's move pass this...

All the package contents originally posted has no changed, this includes the pelican style foamed case.

Is there a clear picture of what is included in the $2999 price? (if you are not in the group buy but if you wanted to buy one today) And also trying to figure out if other vital pieces needed to get going. Anyone?

Unless anyone else states otherwise - the basic package is...:

Basic Package:

1 x Ronin Gimbal
1 x Ronin Intelligent Battery
1 x Ronin Battery Charger
1 x Dual mini 15mm modular rods (3-sections for each rod)
1 x Lens support base
1 x Remote Operator Controller 2.4ghz
1 x Camera Dovetail Plate
1 x Collapsable tuning / balancing stand (able to take top part off to mount on a baby pin)
2 x Top Bar Accessory Mounts
2 x 1/4" Camera Screws
2 x 3/8" Camera Screws
1 x Allen Wrench Set
1 x Accessories Pouch
1 x Custom Molded Pelican-Style Carrying Case with hard foam
1 x Power Breakout Box

$ 2.999,- USD - retail
$ 2.700,- USD - REDUSER GROUP BUY

I think it is also safe to assume that Willis will re-confirm the inclusion of the 1 x Thumb Control for the REDUSER GROUP BUY - but not sure whether this is included in the public release package...

That looks mighty attractive. I think I can deal with the additional weight. Just need to get back into the gym.

An exciting job is about to take this out for a 5-week spin.
