  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

CINEPHOTOGRAPHY tools

On the topic of Android, is the new Ipad app that you guys been showing off lately coming to Android and Windows tablets?

We will add proxy recording times to that as well when it is time :)

we will get all this stuff into an phone app at some point.. nice thing to have on an ipad on set.
That's going to be a big help. Very cool.

EDIT:

Found a bug with the Depth of Field Calculator:

I was calculating with feet and then switched to meters. Google Chrome Version 22.0.1229.94 m. Windows 7 64 bit.

Nice tools, thanks ! The mobile version would be even better :-)

I noticed the crop factor tool only allows lenses in the 17-300 mm range. I know that cover what RED lenses are offering but would be nice to have it work for wider and longer ones (10-600 mm maybe)

Any chance we can see the FOV displayed and the sensor size in mm when using the DOF calculator? Its nice to have everything in writing when sending over to the tracking department.

+1 on for this one. It's allways a hassle to calculate the millimeters when in need for the exact camera for 3d tracking. So if you could make it pixels size and mm side by side you made things a lot easier for the post community to deal with red. Many mistakes made in that field when people do not understand that a 35mm lens is not the same in 4k as in 5k etc.

It would be cool to have the "Recording Time Calculator" tell you what compression is possible at the given resolution and frame rate.

I know this is in the manual but it would be easier to have it in the Tools.

One of the reasons I made this:

I've made one for Dragon, but I won't put it up until everything is officially announced.

Cool stuff!

But may I suggest an improvement? Get rid of the "Calculate" buttons and automatically calculate whenever any input changes. Would make it much easier and faster to use.
