A friend of mine just finished work on "Inception." So of course I harassed him for details! He basically said that this film is going to kick all kinds of ass. Apparently Wally Pfister and Chris Nolan are in the zone, at the top of their game. Fast setups, shooting from the hip, going for it. The plot has something to do with a corporation that can monitor brain activity and invade dreams. Don't ask! His description of the plot was nuts. "Memento" on steroids. Very little CGI. They are trying to do all the effects and stunts in camera.

Budget: $250 million!

When I asked how Nolan was personally, my friend described him as serious, reserved, very smart, and fun at times. He works with his wife on set very closely. His description of Nolan actually reminded me of this biography I've been reading about Hitchcock.

Anyway. There you go. I really admire Nolan and can't wait to see what he's cooking!

The times that I have run VFX dailies for Nolan at WB on "Dark Knight" he was always dressed in a suite and very much reminded me of the old style directors. Plus the guy also has a serious love for film. I'm very interested to see what he does with this new movie. Hope I get to see a cut of it soon.

250 Million? It'll be interesting to see where that money went to.

I will say this. Dark Knight had a huge budget, but it was all there to be seen "up on the screen."

Based on everything I've seen on Christopher Nolan, the world of cinema would be a MUCH better place with more guys like him. He's class and a half.

God, this movie sounds insane. When I saw the teaser I almost lost it. But you gotta think that a huge chunk of the $250 million when to Leo, Nolan, and Cotillard. It's amazing how much money studios will put into a movie and not even bat an eye.

Studios are essentially banks - to them movies are products and they don't put out less they are pretty convinced on ROI.

TDK worldwide gross so far - $1,001,921,825. Over a billion.

That (plus DiCaprio) puts you as a director in the rare 250m budget category as a dice roll on an unknown project.

Basically, Nolan can do whatever the hell he wants.

Glad you liked the teaser! We worked on the title design. Got to see a bunch of things which I can't talk about. It's going to be insanely good. Can't say more! Nothing.

In fact, even if I were allowed to... I wouldn't want to spoil everything for you guys ;) Just go see it!

Damn you!

I am so pumped for this movie. The trailer was fantastic - one of the best I've seen in years. Let's see more good movies by great people. Go Nolan!

I didn't even realize that this was being shot partially in 65mm. Apparently they always had two Panavision 65mm cameras on set, one regular and one for high-speed.
