Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Thanks for making this mount Erik and for having the insight to team up with Curt! It's an awesome piece of the filmmaking puzzle!

Congrats!

New thread?

New thread?

Given that this epic thread is titled "Lens Mount Reservations" and those reservations are essentially filled....how about a NEW THREAD!!?!?!?

I posted one trying to put technical and other information about the mount in a place without 500 pages of our complaining...but it does not seem to be taking.

I think Erik deserves a new thread!

Zero. All Canon EF mounts ordered without an Impero, or requested to be shipped in advance of an Impero, that have been paid for, have left the building...

Hi Erik

Very happy to be getting my mounts soon, but just had to pay an unexpected £34 customs duty on the mounts to Fedex because the TARIC Tariff code on the shipping paperwork is 9006910000 "Parts and accessories -...For cameras" which although does describe the mount, also attracts a duty of 3.7% into the UK!!

On my emails, I requested that the equally valid UK TARIC code 8529902000 be used as "parts suitable for use with TV cameras and DIGITAL CAMERAS 8525803000". This should be 0% coming into the EU.

Please use this 0% code when shipping the Imperos if possible! Thanks!

http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_custom...untry=----------&YesNo=1&Indent=1&Action=1#OK

The logic being that RED itself describes the RED One with harmonised code 8525805050 which would correspond with a UK code of 852580xxxx
"Television cameras, DIGITAL CAMERAS and video camera recorders". And this Birger mount is also RED One specific.

If anyone wants a great deal on three brand new Canon EF lens go to classified and look under Red One #5721 for sale. The camera has sold but lots of great gear and EF-S 10-22, EF-L 24-105, EF-L 70-200. All three are 20% off and have warranty cards that have not been filled out and were purchased last month. The 10-22 as the optional bag and hood while the others have that standard. Also a Canon Lens support for 15mm rods.

I will be out of the office at 8am to 2pm today going to Birger to have my mount removed and PL installed since that is how the camera sold. So feel free to call if you want to secure a item. Phone number is on my site with link below.

Good luck to everyone with the new Birger Mount.

Thank you Erik for this great product. It took time, but it was worth the wait and we know you won't stop here! Can't wait to try the knobs, but I will wait.

Best,
Bogdan

I'm crying here folks.. I hate to be the one to say this...

But.... Sniff... Sniff.... I think it's time for this thread to close....

It's over... The wait is over... The Imperos are for the viewfactor thread.. So if one of us needs a "bitching fix" we'll have to go over there..

Erik's no more fun... He's shipping like crazy.

Jay

It's over... The wait is over...

My Fedex tracking says "out for Delivery" so I would have to agree with you. I couldn't be more excited.

Wait... We're still waiting for... your videos!

We have something to bitch about!!! Sure, Maybe you should start a thread called "Birger Lens Mount video Anticipation" but yes, maybe it is time to close "Birger Lens mount constipation..."

Damn, my mount is still out there, i've missed Fedex two days in a row. But i was out, busy receiving this...

that desperately waiting for his already long ago paid Birger mount :).

Got my mount Tuesday. I have installed it but I have not adjusted the flange depth yet. The build quality is excellent and I can see where all that time went.

I am happy to report my birger equipment has arrived as well. Fedex delivered a few days early. Can't wait to start shooting. Now if only VF would deliver their FF units! Guess I'll have to control from my MBP.

What is the typical bluetooth range?

Got my mount yesterday.
Installed at at 11:00 AM today, collimated it using 3 lenses, newspaper, tape measure in 45 minutes, dead on on all 3 lenses.
Shot a ski/snowboard jumping competition at 1:30 using the mount and my beloved Canon glass 1:30-3:00.
Aperture buttons moving 1/4 stop up and down, and the full open on command while running and gunning on snow during a fast, intense shoot, was immensely satisfying. Still using mechanical follow focus (redrock) very happily without the knob.
Have shots in clipfinder now and they look wonderful.

THANK YOU BIRGER THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Collimation was not any harder than other PL mounts, and is far tighter lens to lens than nikon mount for me, took 45 mins. have not upgraded sofwtare yet to see lens data in EVF, but looking fwd to it.

THIS THING ROCKS

How are you guys adjusting focus with the Birger without the View Factor unit?

All the lenses are capable of being manually focused. Just grab the lens and focus it. Or you can put a gear on the lens and use a Follow Focus unit. Unlike Nikons, Canon lenses actually focus the same direction as other PL mount lenses.

Laptop for pulling focus - really, pretty useless in my real world, but YMMV.

I will appreciate my Impero, BUT I don't get all the hubbub about HAVING to have it - I'm pulling focus using a redrock mechanical follow focus, ringed to canon lenses, and using the buttons on Birger to adjust iris, which in 1/4 stop increments is better than my 1DS. Works great. Much of my Canon glass has pretty tight mechanics (Various L) and focus travel is far greater than my Nikons. Used this today on a pretty intense, have to work fast shoot. Works great. And it focuses the right direction! go shoot...its all good!

I'm just sayin...
