Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Silence...

Darkness...

Anyone received a mount of late?

Anyone been in touch with Erik/Amy?

Anything to happen before/on/after the 13th?

Anyone there?

Hello...

No one's picking up the phone at Birger. I'm sure they're all out voting... at the same time.

If I had to chose between obama and a birger mount, I'd take Obama.

Preferably though, I'd take both.

If I were in guantanamo bay convicted of "suspected in acts of terrorism.." (i got some friends who died in there and they were studying in Yale.. we grew up riding bicycles and playing atari.. nintendo.. never touched a gun.. nor do we know shit other than being spanked for getting bad grades in school.. they were killed cause they were suspected terrorists..2 of 4 of my friends were killed there, the other 2 were released.. they all studied together in Yale.. roomies..), and say I had 4 years of torture, and some lawyer shows up telling me, you have to choose between freedom and the decisive vote for Obama winning. As in if i vote and my vote would substantially count in Obama's success into becoming America's president. I would give up my freedom for this guy. I might rot in that hell hole without being prosecuted but atleast I know i saved tens of thousands of lives all over the globe.. and improved world economy. To me.. doing great good is worth deing for.

Powerful stuff man. Has the situation with your friends been publicized?

I am producing a film called "Undeserved Fate" it is about them. Their names will be and have been withheld. They are back home but have no passports, they can't be given one as they are "black dotted." They can only visit Mecca with a gov't representative. And no they haven't been publicized. Though recently the feature length script has won an award of a 100k us dollars, so its gotten a lot easier to raise funding for. And that was the first competition we ever submitted to.

You can read about it in The Hollywood Reporter here

The extra 3 red one's i'm getting are going to shoot three features.. and that is one of them. We will be using my personal red one with the birger mount for extreme photography... the birger will allow me to use some serious macro canon lenses and tilt shift lenses much more conveniently... lighter too.. zooms are lighter.. a lot of flexibility esp. since most of the shooting will be handheld.

Birger... It's almost our 1 year anniversary. Should I buy flowers?

Conspiracy theory: Maybe he's finally in cahoots with Red to bring Birger to Scarlet as part of Jim's 13th announcement? Amazing on one hand, suck on the other--as it would add further delays.

Or maybe he's busy getting the knobs ready for shipping?

The whole guantanamo thing is one of the saddest chapters of american history. As a previous poster said "amazing, important stories waiting to be told". If I can help in any way let me know (maybe the waterboarding scene... ....humor in the face of tragedy...)

I have a mount so I don't need to trade my Obama vote, but those knobs would be nice....

Here in Zurich with the Octamas team. staying with Tobias and Tina....

We just tested ever single Canon lens ever. they all rock...

I had all the L series on my RED. it was crazy...

the 85 as we know doesn't focus. the Tokina 11-16 also does not focus...

we also tested several macro lenses... and the 65mm macro specialty lens.... wow...

Mike,

Is the 85mm you're referring to the EF 1.8 or is this the L series lens?

I've had some problems with the EF 85mm 1.8 myself.

We just had an amazing time - touching Birger for the first time (the mount, of course), yay! I'm really amazed about the build quality and it is just magic to see those images from the canon glass coming alive! So thanks so much Mike to see that mount in action for the first time. Rrreaally looking forward to receive ours... Can't wait to go crazy with RED/Birger/L series... I guess we'll leave the 24mm 1.4 on the camera like aall the time. What a lens. On a RED. Good times indeed...

85mm 1.2 . its a great lens!

I'm thinking about trying the new Sigma 50mm 1.4. Know of any experience with that or other new Sigmas.

What's the alternative for the 85mm 1.8 other than the 1.2? I wonder if Erk can figure out how to get these nonworking lenses going. The 85mm 1.8 would be a good place to start.
