  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Next week we will do the second ramp
It's a bit early for that isn't it? Considering you haven't finished the first ramp yet.

Ignoring the numbers for a moment, as two more days of production and shipping would have gotten us all to a happy place with the numbers
I'd like to not ignore the numbers, since they determine whether we're getting our mounts or not. Why is it that you had 50 mounts ready to go last weekend, but you only have 25 tracking numbers to give out next Tuesday? Is that an additional 25 tracking numbers to the 50 you had ready? Should we expect 75 mounts to have shipped between now and then? And of the 25 that will get tracking numbers, did those mounts go out already, or are they leaving the factory on Monday? Should some of us be sitting by the door waiting for the Fedex guy?

Erik, I'm going to congratulate you on the wedding... love's a great thing. But, with regards strictly to the business side of things... the lens mount delays are really really frustrating.

Edit: Never mind... I'm simply going to lower my expectations to the bare minimum. Gotta suck it up and live with it I guess. Now, if I can find some sheet metal, duct tape, and some screws, maybe I can fashion a makeshift mount.

And I thought this thread had turned into a soap opera a long time ago. I suspect we're all on Candid Camera or are part of a social experiment of some sort.

Nah, it's no soap opera here; nobody's gone into a coma yet. Social experiment on the other hand... that would explain why those guys with the cameras have been following me around the house for the last ten months, and why somebody keeps turning the thermostat way up.

Nah. . . you guys just don't get it, do you?

There is a very simple explanation for all of this: Remember the five stages of grief? It's just like in the Sixth Sense. . . our Birger mounts aren't ever going to come. . .

. . . 'cause WE'RE ALREADY DEAD!

:-)

No tracking number.....!!!????? Really????? It is soooo hard not to be negative. I'm biting my tongue. This is truly ridiculous.

I'm proud of Erik. He's built an amazing thing. And he's shipping them. Perhaps not at the speed of light, or anything close, but he's shipping.

I'm sure I will be getting one someday. It sounds like a wonderful thing.. But I'm gonna wait for the knobs first

Jay

It's not delays. It's misrepresentation. The unfulfilled promise of shipment is not only frustrating but also dishonest. We've been told many times that everything was ready to go, and we would be getting tracking numbers shortly when that has obviously not been the case. I paid in full over 2 months ago because my mount was shipping that week. It's just not good business.

I was pondering existence this evening, after coming down from today's frustration high. I realized that life's too short to get uptight about deadlines. I'm just going to work on everything else that's piling up, and perhaps after that stuff is all done I might have a mount on the doorstep. I will assume Erik has been operating on half-cylinders for the last month, due to the wedding, and that his grossly inaccurate estimates are merely side-effects of a distracted mind. When he's back to work, perhaps things will pick up. Now, I'm off to work on other things...

How can we place a deposit? The website doesn't really explain much of anything. I called and left a message but no return call in the last week.

Also, are they shipping units officially now (albeit at a slow rate)?

You can order it with this form:

Erik is out for his wedding, due back next week, so please (and this goes to everyone) give him some break... :)

And yes - the units are officially shipping, albeit at a (relatively) slow rate...
