  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Birger Lens Mount Reservations

I think there's nothing personal. Just an inconvenient truth.
That one wasn't directed towards you...

I think we can all agree that if there was an Oscar for communication, Erik wouldn't be the front-runner.

But today is sort of the wrong day to point it out. After a long, long, long, , long, long, long, long, ... wait, there are finally some production mounts shipping. This is reason enough to celebrate (with pancakes or waffles) and hold off with criticism.

Curt's remote looks fantastic and support between Birger and Viewfactor is great, but what about your bluetooth remote? Is there any news on it's development or features? It would be unfortunate if it got downgraded or less functional because of the viewfactor remote. The thing that has made me stick around through all of the delays is the idea that all of the necessary pieces are included in the price of the mount.

The functionality of the remote has not been downgraded. There will be a display, two control surfaces, and a radio. The specifications have changed, for the better.

We are working with ViewFactor because Curt and I have a common complementary view of the marketplace. While our companies may offer products that that do similar things, we do not see those products as competitive... or at least not competitive in a bad way.

I just spent 45 minutes speaking with Curt on the phone. You will be seeing some cool stuff coming from the collaboration.

ehehehehe.. you're referring the personal stuff.. after all you're going there yourself.. :) you.. you all amuse me..

edit
hey.. birger too..

I like the sound of that!

Erik (congratulations, fanfare are in order), what is your pessimistic guess at delivery times if I ordered today?

Erm... where exactly did I get personal?

been out all day but got in to find a fed-ex tracking number. it's on its way

PM me is you have received your mount or your Fedex email.
If you wanna check to see if your name is on the list or to add your name I will add you info to the list here:

Mr. Perrin, what are you basing your list data off of? I ordered on the 30th and was told by Erik that I'm #140 (which due to cancellations has probably changed). Your list, however, shows #140 as being all the way into March.

Regardless, thanks for putting the list together!

Martin, I think this isn't the first time I have wanted to compliment you on your Norwegian sensibility. [Postgirobygget playing on my iTunes...]

We will address schedule early next week. I want to get the next group of mounts out the door, and knobs into preproduction before I comment.

The list is obviously not complete. I ordered in November, and I'm not on the list.

Yeah, I'm just curious about where he is getting his data from since he has me down to a specific minute on a specific day (60.Harmonica__11-28-2007 01:23 PM) which turns out to be bogus.

Thanks, I know I haven't always given you an easy time, but I am trying to be balanced. Unlike you, I am 0% Norwegian, mostly German with some Czech genes. That said, there are a couple of other very interesting Norwegian Bands (Kaizers Orchestra; Brass Brothers; many others more).

Since I apparently have been promoted to your PR guy #2, I would recommend to be very, very conservative on an estimate. Much better to surprise us with an earlier delivery, than having to apologize for delays again and again.

Great news that you are co-operating with Curt/Viewfactor. Are you also considering trying once again a possible co-operation with P+S? To me, as a very non-lens-technicy person, it just sounds like the very best option for lenses. But if you say that it is plainly not possible, I will trust your intuition much more than mine.

I'm not listed either but that's ok. Spoke to Erik Monday. He told me delivery by 10/1. That's the number that matters to me.

Good times ahead.

errrh.. it's all about more norwegian sensibility than sense.. understood.. :)

The only number that should matter to anybody, is the number of Birgers they are actually hefting in their own trembling hands ;-)

We received our mount mid-day today.

I sadly won't have time to install it until Sunday but it looks to be a beautifully designed and engineered piece of equipment and an astonishing value for its modest cost. Everything is packaged with great attention to detail.

Countless thanks to Erik and all involved in the Birger mount project.

As is often said about childbirth...

Makes me strangely glad I've ordered both. Initially I intended to keep the one that worked better for me... maybe I need to keep both now.

Congratulations Erik. Things appears to be moving forward and I'm glad for you and all of us.

Congratulations, David! Would this be the first "received" post from a non-beta tester?
