A few mounts trickled out today... more tomorrow. We should have this current batch completed by saturday... at which point we will regroup, and announce the schedule and size of the next batch.
We had a slightly larger fallout than we expected from two of the components. Production quantites of both fixed components are in house, so there is nothing to be worried about. No point in sharing the blow by blow of the last few days, except to say that we are gradually shipping more units, and do not see any hurdles left in getting the rest of this batch out the door.
First knobs will be out about a week after we finish shipping this batch. We still expect to ship the entire Canon backlog during the month of August.
Software control... Early next week we expect to release PocketPC (Microsoft Windows Mobile) version of the application that will let you use a $300 PDA to talk to the mount over BlueTooth for display of lens data and control. Because we did this on .NET, we only need to do a GUI layout to fit on a 320x240 touchscreen to get this working.
The PC application runs under emulation on the mac in parallels. .NET on the mac doesn't seem to be a reasonable option, so we will have a native mac application out in a couple of weeks. Emulation is just a temporary solution. Obviously BootCamp works too.
Curt will be getting one of the engineering units so he might have some interesting things to say next week...
